Thank god we got a win, qpr were very poor but we put them to the sword. Amazing how shoring up the defence has changed our luck.It is obvious Jdt is not fond of 3 cbs but we look more assured , we have another stopid international break but it may help with the injuries.

At least you own up to the egg on your face stuff. Most don't because they can't face up to the fact none of us are infallible!

I cannot remember too much because I've had quite a few to drink, but here goes...

Wahlstedt
Had almost nothing challenging to do all game. Did what he needed to do. Aerially quite good. Any nerves he might have had in his first few games of "playing in England" may now go. The shirt will be his to lose by the time Pears returns.

Hill
Very good again. His forward runs earned the opposition a yellow card, and he was, defensively, solid.

Hyam
Starting to grow into the season over the last couple of games. Perhaps the back-three will start to find his confidence for the season. I was an advocate of him being captain last season, but no so much this season. However, he captained the team to an easy victory today, so perhaps I shouldn't second-guess myself.

Carter
Thought he struggled a little bit against their wide-forward (can't recall his name), but generally OK. Did a very nice take-down and pass in a sticky situation in the second-half.

Rankin-Costello
Probably his best game so far this season. Did superbly for Sigurdsson's first goal, which wasn't too far away from the carbon copy of his assist for Gallagher in the same part of that exact pitch last season. Brilliant performance.

Pickering
A very good game from him. Made a crucial header away in the first-half where he got clattered for it. That's the sort of stuff we need to get anything out of a game. He made a sort of mistake in the second-half which, by then, would only have cost us the clean sheet, but he is adapting well with what he has to how Tomasson wants his wing-backs to play.

Tronstad
My Man of the Match, even if he didn't last much longer than 60 minutes or so. He reminds me quite a lot of Johann Vogel. Not so much a rough and tumble type of player, but enough of it to put the tackles in, and real class on the ball to get it to the more-creative players. His shooting was a little bit off, but perhaps it will improve when he's fully match-fit. A criticism of Rovers so far this season is that we have over-passed the ball in the final third, so I like that he isn't afraid to take a shot on. I really like what I've seen from him so far.

Szmodics
Excellent. Even though he clearly knows how to finish, I can't help but think he could have had one or two more goals in this game. As usual, he isn't just about effort, which the supporters like to see, but also quality, which the supporters love to see. His positioning and runs off the last defender are superb. I think the latter bit is something that goes under the radar to most people.

Dolan
Delighted he got a goal. Well-taken with his "wrong" foot. He has shown a lot more confidence to be more effective against his man in the last couple of games. If he can keep that going, he will be un-droppable.

Sigurdsson
To say that he still might not be fully fit, he is clearly a goal-scorer. As against Ipswich, he appears to know where to be in the six-yard area to receive the ball, which is where all strikers make their money. An absolutely brilliant strike to put us 3-up and pretty much seal the game. Commentators suggested he must be frustrated to have been taken off as soon as he was on a hat-trick, but given that he's away with Iceland (bravo!), it was the right call to make. He is showing signs of being a quality star that the supporters are going to love this season.

Markanday
Struggled to get into the game early on, but I could see his work-rate both in attack and defence. He will have better days, but he still played quite well and was a nuisance down the flanks.

As for the subs...

Moran
I recall some neat play, but not a great deal more.

Brittain
Brilliant in getting down their right-hand side, and effective in putting balls into the penalty box. I noticed he was pushed much further up the pitch later on in the game. I can see why, but he has to become even more effective to earn that spot, even if he's been playing well.

Travis
Great option from the bench, and he has noticeably been driving forward this season, something that I'm still not too sure about when he's a starter. You can tell he wants to get up that end of the pitch, but I still prefer him doing what Tronstad did today - sitting, fighting, and orchestrating.

Ennis
Didn't really notice him, aside from trying hard to hold the ball up. Early days to judge his return.

Gilsenan
Silly to earn a yellow card to flick the ball away after the referee's whistle. Probably unimportant, but even though I didn't notice anything from him, I don't really like to see silliness like that.

I think that was all. I think we needed that win. A draw or less against a very poor QPR side who are clearly on a downward slide would have been concerning, so it was great to not just get the three points, but to do it at a canter. It was a hugely enjoyable performance. I don't know how long it is since we last went into an international break off the back of a win, but it seems too long ago.

A great performance and convincing win which I'm delighted for the massive away following for. We need to start picking up more wins and, hopefully, clean sheets, in the next group of games to get back into the mix.

Yet the moaners were writing him off. He is talented and he has more than enough time to improve.

Speaking of fragile confidence it seems the Demons in Raya's head re: crosses and kicking haven't disappeared completely, We need him to sort himself out or we can kiss goodbye to a share of 40m.

That the Raya that was playing for a team in the biggest game of the season so far
And kept a clean sheet!
I'm with ODB - it isnt a sin to hold your hand up and admit a mistake occasionally

The loss to Lens midweek was the one which I was referring to steve**. It was a great shot from the highlights, I didn't watch the whole match but here's what the Mirror said....

Raya blunder costs Gunners
Mikel Arteta 's decision to install David Raya as Arsenal's number one has looked to have been the right one so far but there's no doubt that he had to shoulder a lot of the blame for Lens' equaliser. His poor clearance was picked off and Arsenal never recovered.
Elye Wahi managed to find Thomasson with an excellent knockdown. The Frenchman then opened his body up to curl home a sumptuous effort beyond the grasp of the Arsenal goalkeeper. His error is unlikely to cost him his spot between the sticks against Manchester City this weekend but Arteta will hope that Raya has got any errors out of his system ahead of such a key game.

A fragile confidence can ruin any player. Boobs in kicking or handling will be overlooked here or even at Luton but at one of the big 4 media darlings he's under the microscope every minute of every match.

**As for City I'm not really seeing them as good as they were last season. Could be in transition and they will come good but they have changed a lot of personnel since last season.

Correct but some make more than others, rem Bobby Mimms nickname? In my time I think the best that I've ever seen at Ewood was Brad Freidel, whilst the worst was John Butcher.

They are missing de Bruyne and Rodri. Once they return theyโ€™ll be sorted, I like watching City.
