Radio Rovers was launched 25 years ago today! Huge credit to Gerald, Wendy, Alan and the rest for the memories. Some great nostalgia in these videos:

How did Gerald manage to pull off such a superb spoof of Radio Norfolk's most famous presenter, Alan Partridge?
Such was his talent for parody that he somehow managed to combine the sportscaster's portentous tones with the insufferably smug delivery of a daytime TV consumer chat show host.

With keen perception, he could somehow tick all the cringe boxes, and yet sound perfectly serious:

Sporting a comb-over with a ponytail - check.
Exponent of cheesy euro glam rock muzak - check.
Hackneyed football sofa chat- check.

Absolutely brilliant Al, er I mean Gerald, you certainly had me fooled. Smell my cheese, yeah!

Gerald Jackson had a face tailor made for radio.... and that pony tail was a big mistake. I bet he regrets sporting it now when viewing these old vids.
