The more I listen to the "Round the Horne" episodes, the more I'm convinced that those taking part (if they did it now) would be thrown in prison.
But shit, they were funny, taking the piss everywhere.
btw, I've only got up to episode seven.

How times have changed.......

The Forum on the BBC World Service is usually informative, entertaining and educational (sometimes the BBC does follow its remit).

With the question about Covid-19 now being a case of when, not if, the virus will return, The Forum's discussion about the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic provides a grim backdrop. The death toll was higher in the second wave of the pandemic, in the Fall / Autumn, as troops returned home from the Front and people probably dropped their guard.

'Those that fail to learn the lessons...'

Indeed so SLKS. History frequently repeats itself doesn't it? What goes around comes around as the old saying goes.

Just watched a BAME lady doctor expert on the news (yeah I know.) She was angrily asking what the government are doing to reduce the number of deaths within the aforementioned communities. The next two articles showed crowds at a demo and of people crammed up against the front door of a store on Oxford Street now that the shops are opening. I’ll leave you to guess who made up the two groups ethnic background Therefore in answer to the experts question I suggest that self education regarding social distancing may be the answer rather than blaming the government.

Our neighbours have NEVER been in lockdown. I cannot begin to guess how much coming and going there is every hour of the day from one family. God only knows where they all go to.

However I'd be tempted to keep my opinions to myself if I were her until it's proven that the vulnerability to Covid-19 is not genetic.

SLKS, just to let you know, I'm still working through the Round the Horne series, and it's still brings (laughter) tears to my eyes.
So funny, so non PC.

That's cos PC back then was a low ranking Police Officer dave.

The excellent Sounds of the Seventies was better than usual as it featured an interview with the late John Prine, who we sadly lost to Covid-19 earlier this year. A great show, Johnnie Walker has good taste in music for a former Radio 1 DJ, and it confirmes that Prine was a true musical oracle of middle America, much in the vein of John Updike who reflected small town America through the medium of the novel. Thought I would be listening to the interview with a tear in my eye, but I realised by the end that I had been smiling throughout. An over used word, but Prine was a musical genius. Check it out: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000nl9q

Playing right into GB Radio's hands aren't they?

I wonder if Neill's been on the blower to Humphreys to do a year or two's swansong yet?

Despite the non sequitur of the "current debate about the stability and durability of the United Kingdom" as a theme for a programme that traces the origins of England by exploring its Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, Radio 4's 'This Union: The Ghost Kingdoms of England', is a rare thing on the BBC these day, informative, educational and entertaining:

I shall have to have a listen of that, thank you.
