Well done to Harry Kane for getting his Premier League goals total past that of Alan Shearer and taking his record in the process. A remarkable achievement by a remarkable talent. imo His dedication to his profession matches that of the equally single minded and driven Alan Shearer.
Kane imo is not as good with his head but probably better at running into the channels and 'losing' opposing defenders. Also he appears to be more two footed.

Kane has been lucky with injuries too. Without wanting to be churlish I'd love to have known what Shearer could have achieved without that cruciate injury incurred against Leeds United Christmas 92. He was a bloody marvel the whole time he was here but anyone who watched him regularly in those first few months will know that that injury adversely affected him throughout his subsequent career*.

*The horror ankle injury at everton whiolst playing for NUFC compounding the issue.

One thing that will irk him almost as much as his record going imo is that so much footage of him in the press and media obviously shows him in the blue and white halves. It's surely down to him that every time old footage is shown these days he's in the black and white stripes.

Records are there to be broken and all that. And I agree with you, Kane's a superb player and deserves his success.

Have to say i've not been very impressed with how Lineker's been acting about it. I know they banter on MOTD but he's said about 7 times in the last 2 shows how much he wanted Kane to break it, then brought up the Lennon head kick again for no reason. I get the feeling he gets a bit bitter over the historical focus always starting from 1992, missing out his own brilliant career.

And perhaps the fact that the Walker revolution at Blackburn shows him and his agent up in rather a poor light. First couple of minutes....... Parkes and Nixon

For Kane to have broken the record in six fewer games than Shearer further underlines the lad's quality.
His hat-trick goal yesterday was pure class.
Whether Spurs can hang onto him remains to be seen....

Harry Kane is a fantastic player the best since Shearer, let's hope he stays injury free and stays at his boyhood club.

Shearer before his injury was unplayable. An absolute monster. Who knows what he would've gone on to achieve had that not happened? Saying that, I never thought someone would match Shearer's records, so fair play and even better he's an England player. Here's hoping he's used properly for his country and not wasted taking corners like last time, in a Scholes-esque bollocks up of near world class talent.

Paul Scholes was an absolutely brilliant midfield player with a temperament to match. His only weakness but one which he was never able to overcome a tendency toward rash and mistimed tackles which frequently appeared 'dangerous.' Scholes only got away with them because he was playing for Man Utd under Ferguson and as a result most Refs were afraid to apply the rules of Football to. If he'd been playing for a small club in the Prem now he'd hardly ever finish a match.

I would NEVER have imagined pre Walker years of ever seeing one of the top Strikers in Europe playing in our famous colours... just unthinkable.

Was a privilege and a pleasure to witness the 'Shearer years'.

Will we ever see the likes of him again?.....
