I’m not really familiar with balance sheets , profit and loss , accounting techniques etc

For those that are , does this stabilise/ strengthen Rovers financial position?

👆as clear as mud. However in my opinion I would expect it is a reallocation into shares rather than a cash injection. Please remember this is an owner who would not even stump up for a new pitch.

I am sure our resident financial wizard Rovers95 will have a good idea.

That’s an understatement Robin. Who would be barmy enough to buy this basket case of a club?

I read a report on the otherside that said that Venky's had overseen losses of $282Mill since they took over. gulp!

It's not that surprising with the wages and expenses bills we have and income close to zero due to covid preventing supporters going to the ground. I'm sure that many other clubs will have huge losses for the year, though probably not as big as Rovers.

I can't see crowds returning very quickly either. I think footballers outside of the Prem are going to be looking in their wage packets very soon and experiencing a touch of the real world. Lets not kid ourselves because that is where most of the money goes. Far too many football clubs in this day and age to support the wages that have been paid out in the lower leagues. If football were invented today instead of 150 years ago then no way would there be 92 professional clubs. Economic and social conditions have changed so much the current model would never get off the ground

It’s all fine. Our loss was not as bad as the previous year 😮😂😂

Thankfully, I can have an evening meal on friday, knowing that the rovers loss for the 19/20 season was only 21.9Pounds.
That will ensure any ulcers and other stress inducive problems will be eased.

I heard today from a good friend that most of Rovers non playing staff are still on furlough. He tells me that only one of the hospitality sales team that deals with corporate entertainment has returned to work.

Rovers must be desperate to save every penny possible.

Whilst we are stuck with the clowns we will have this financial panic every season. They need to write off their self inflicted losses, sell the club and bugger off.
I disagree entirely. While we have the luxury of rich owners who are willing to cope with our massive wage bill to turnover ratio, fans should enjoy the quality of players we currently have. Because this surely can't continue and have a look at Preston's set-up for exactly what we can expect in future.

The only way an ownership change could replicate what we currently have (forget do better) is if they:

1. Are rich.
2. Are insane enough to buy a catastrophically loss-making business (which kinda rules out point 1).
3. Are insane enough to continue making catastrophic losses, rather than slashing the wage bill by 60% (which definitely rules out point 1).

Not even Venkys would be daft enough to buy us these days, even if we sent them 100 Jerome Andersons spinning a year of bull**** whilst massaging Mrs Desai's feet. No way to grow the club, just one financial hail mary that every club in the division is racking up debt to chase and about 18-19 of which are better placed than us.

The only thing I guess you can say about this is whilst wages continue to be so eye-watering compared to turnover, maybe we should expect more from Mowbray.

Most clubs have Swansea and Sunderland pockets 800 and 600 i each. It’s disgusting and as tax paying fans we ought to be pissed off about it.

And I know this might be grasping at straws but.............We have cleared out a lot of big earners recently and now we are in the brinksmanship game.
I think all signings will be of players getting desperate for a wage/ short term contract.
I think this will be the "new model" across football and the only longer contracts will be reserved for the elite prospects that will have bigger ambitions and still be able to command a transfer fee.

Hard though it is to give Rovers management structure any praise, I wonder if this has been our long term survival strategy and the reason for reticence to give contracts out (except to Dack, who injury free, would have commanded interest from bigger fish and who they wasted no time in signing up)
AA probably caught them out with such a blinding season? His previous efforts had me screaming for him to be dropped due to his lack of team work.
I would never have offered him a "good" deal before last season
