Rovers v MK (Saturday 26th August)

Two of the teams considered to have high promotion expectations meet at Ewood on Saturday. MK haven't made a great start either so they will also be looking to get up and running. Rovers may have won at Bradford and they can have all the pre-orchestrated huddles they want but its not convincing enough. The Doncaster result is what the players should be going into this game with in mind and making up for it. Nothing less than a win should be seen as acceptable.

So...thoughts?

Ditto. One swallow does not a summer make. However after seeing the opening two debacles I'd suggest a convincing team performance is just as important as a result.

Spare ticket if anyone wants it.
I'm not going either. Er indoors accepted an invitation to lunch at Northcote thinking it was Sunday and it's not. It's Saturday! Now I'm not a great fan of Northcote but I have to say the decision wasn't all that hard to take.

Sorry but I have to make that a trio. I'm off to Headingly to the test match. We didn't know at the time we booked the tickets that it clashed with a Rovers home match but it wouldn't have made any difference. There are six if us going, all of us Rovers season ticket holders. Never mind there's another match on Tuesday night against Stoke. After that it's for ever before the next home match with Fleetwood being postponed, 16th September against the other Wombles AFC Wimbledon. I'll be getting withdrawal symptoms.

I only get them when we have a strong team playing successful football Al.

In that case I'll lend you my ticket and you kit yourself out with this....

btw Abbey.... every match you miss it does get easier. Like giving up smoking, the longer you go without the less you will miss it.

Some people don't want it to get easier. Abbey is one of them and personally I'm kinda glad he's annoyed as it shows how much he cares. Have to say in my case that its probably not been as difficult as it should be. Which is worrying but what can you do? Its a struggle for me to get through any match on TV (whether Rovers or not) or elsewhere these days even when I have money on the outcome. I'm not going on Saturday but my first game of the season will probably be AFC Wimbledon. Or perhaps Fleetwood which will presumably be an evening fixture now though not sure whether any date has been agreed. Bit strange really with only 3 players (if that's correct and one of them being the sub goalkeeper) its a little bit embarrassing to postpone the game. Rovers are scared of Fleetwood now? That's the message it sends out and I don't like it.

Oh I forgot the Stoke game didn't I? Think that will probably be given a miss as well.

Some might say going to Ewood is paying for overpriced trash. In the last few years that's probably been the case more often than not. At Northchoke however its a guarantee you will be paying for overpriced trash (or at least the people who invited you will be Theno)

The man once said to me, it's priced that way because his customers do not want to sit with the oiks

Probably. You can guarantee if the Walkers lived in Kensington they would have been the first to complain about Grenfell Tower's appearance. Goodness knows what they would have made of the rehousing decisions.

The Walkers just sold their house at Alum Scar for £3.5M. Possibly one of the most expensive properties in BwD.

Assume this is it?

Do you know why they sold? Maybe moving to Jersey or joining that cretin in Monaco? I was uncertain whether it was a private road or not (Billinge End Road isn't but Alum Scar Lane seems to be and I've seen both addresses connected to them) and is the house itself called Alum Scar?

I am going to this game, driving up with all the MK dons fans, well maybe the 20 or 30 fans they will bring. I'll shove a rovers scarf in the back window and see if anyone flicks the V's

No idea what to expect, a reaction? Doubt it. We really need a win as the fleetwood match is off. I'll go 2-1 Rovers.
