I have slept on this and have had chance to mull the game over.

I was miffed last night. This morning I am well and truly very very miffed.

TM was on the sidelines hands in pockets whilst the Shrimps Manager was barking instructions and kicking every ball. We were beaten by a team who were up for it and wanted to win. We have professional (sic) footballers who are paid to win; after 50 minutes they looked clueless and Mr Magoo on the sidelines was equally clueless.

A long hard season awaits. Why am I subjecting myself to a trip to Millwall?

I didn't go so I'm not commenting from my own experience But it sounds like two matches now that we should have been out of sight if we had a quality finisher(s) in our squad. We all know that simply isn't the case now Armstrong's gone. A fact I've pointed it out frequently to those who didn't rate him.
It's up to TM to find one or two somehow and from somewhere.... his job will be hanging on it.

TM’s contract finishes at the end of this season. They will either stick with him to save compensation or will wait for a while whilst the value of his compensation reduces.

For me he is a waste of space and is taking the players backwards.

Those misses by BB-D right at the start, and at the very end, were pathetic.

For the very life of me - I just don't get why he will not play SG in the middle.
There is obviously a reason (lack of trust in others? Lack of trust in SGs ability in the middle? It just doesn't make any sense to me!
On the few occasions we got someone wide and crossed there was nobody there (except the once Dolan managed to strain himself to get to a cross that SG would have just nodded in)

Note to TM - you can not use your smallest player as a target man, it might come off now and then but as a long term policy it represents suicide!

Can't understand how Mowbray can take so many 'positives' from another abject cup exit. Lenihan was poor for that first Morecambe goal, too easily shrugged off the ball. Not a great example for Carter and Magloire.

Those misses by BB-D right at the start, and at the very end, were pathetic.

I make it only the one at the start that was pathetic (for a full international) and if I may say so typical of him. He had a decent header and then that shot at the end which was just speculative at best.

Morecambe's goal was again our achilles heel of allowing opposition players 30 yards of a run before putting a tackle in. Lenihan then contrived to make even me and Brereton look quick as he strolled to cut out the ball and failed. The lad who scored got just in front of a lunging Rothwell (I think) to strike home BUT all through the move Travis made no attempt to get in a defensive position. As far as I'm concerned that happens all too often with our midfielders. That now makes it twice in a week that the opposition have scored goals from similar positions on the edge of our penalty area!

I am really disappointed by this result and really worried. Tony Mowbray must take full responsibility for this defeat. He tried to adopt the methods of a friendly game in a tough cup competition against physical opponents. He tinkered with formations in the second half believing the game was won after a one sided first half. That was a strong lineup and we should have beaten them.
I’ve experienced a lot of cup defeats by lower league opposition over the years but this one feels worse at the moment.
