What a great fixture this would have been for Boxing Day, were it not for Covid.
Wednesday would have brought lots of fans, the usual plastic Rovers fans would have turned up for their annual festive outing and a great atmosphere would undoubtedly have ensued.
Instead we will have artificial crowd noise and an empty stadium

Wednesday got their first win under Tony Pulis last Saturday and sit at the wrong end of the table. It would be worse for them had they not had their points deduction halved on appeal.
So, can we expect to give them a good trouncing and send the blighters back across the Pennines with their tails between their legs?
Well, Rovers have currently won 1 in 5 (and what a lucky win that was!) and, apparently, have only won once on Boxing Day in the last ten years :worried:, so perhaps a win isn't a foregone conclusion.

Will Bradley Dack make an appearance on the bench?
Will another youngster get a game? Dan Butterworth and Brad Lyons are both surely due some minutes soon.

Whatever the team, we desperately need the 3 points on Saturday to avoid slipping even further behind the leading pack.
Shame none of us can be there with our flasks (hip or thermos).
Weather forecast is a bit crap though, so perhaps supping ale in front of iFollow won't be too bad after all.

In fairness lots of rovers fans who have been forced away to find work etc come home at Christmas and take in a home match for old times sake. I don't consider them to be plastics. The closure of the massive employers of Mullards, Scapa, ROF, numerous paper mills and engineering works and the lack of career opportunities in this area must have hit the Rovers income mighty hard over the last 30 years.

As for the match the conditions are supposed to be very wet and windy so thank goodness they no longer have Nuhiu!

I wouldn't consider those to be plastics either.
There are, however, many locals who view going to Ewood on Boxing Day just part of a Christmas tradition and we never see them again for the rest of the season.

Well I had thought we were playing Huddersfield today and Sheffield Weds away on Tuesday 🙄 so much for all the in-depth research I carried out to do my Sheffield Weds, now Huddersfield, away preview.

As for today I reckon a modest 5-1 Rovers win 😎

Happy Ayala is back and brilliant Dack is on the bench. That midfield doesn't inspire confidence after last week's showing, although Johnson should bolster it. Douglas had better up his mileage!

Delivery from free kicks I'd assume WB. I'd imagine Mowbray must not be fearing Wednesday's right wing very much. Wednesday are reporting plenty of injuries with Marriot definitely out and a major doubt over Captain Barry Bannon. Wonder if Rhodes might get a run out although I doubt he'll be a favourite of Pulis.

2-1
