Rovers v Sheffield Wednesday

Despite the doom and gloom from last night, there's another match in 2 days' time, so we had better have a thread.
Wednesday are 3 points behind us in the table and beat Bolton last night, so hopefully, they aren't as much to be feared as their city rivals, who gave us a footballing lesson at Ewood earlier in the season.
Our ex-loanee Lucas Joao could well feature for them and has scored 5 times already this season.
They also have ex-dingle Steven Fletcher and Fernando Forestieri but their top scorer is Adam Reach with 6, some of which have been stunners.
I remember watching Sheff Weds v Leeds earlier this season and he whacked one in from just off the right wing.

After the last 5 days I have no idea what to expect from Rovers.
Will the recent away day blues be a blip or are we on the start of a downward spiral?
One thing is for sure, Mowbray needs to make some changes both to the team and his approach as I don't think I can handle 3 defeats in a week :(.
Trying to resurrect some positivism and hoping that the pre-match ale isn't the highlight of the afternoon for the third match in a row, I'm going for 2-0 to Rovers (but I can't back that up with any sound reasoning o_O)

0-2 unless there is a major change in attitude and application.

btw I quite liked Joao when he was here. Unpredictable and a handful to boot with a kick like a mule. I can't figure out what's gone wrong for Wednesday this season as they've been pushing for top 6 last few seasons.

I can’t seem to forecast a Rovers defeat at home or away . It’s never been in my DNA . I’ll probably end up in Prediction League 2 next season . Just hope our club doesn’t follow me down !

Up the Rovers

I'm returning to my default result 3-1 Rovers!! Think the prediction league should be based around A N Other team! as above comments - I just cant be realistic when it comes to the Blues

Hoping for a sensible team selection and a change back of attitude I'll predict a 2-1 win for us.

Ok so ill go for a 1-1. we are better at home But something is wrong very wrong at the min... Is it the banter has got out of hand in the dressing room or the contracts cause upset or have we just run out of ideas.......

Sweet fanny adam how can I predict this game o_Oo_Oo_O

I say Rovers will get a result: win, lose or draw.

We will also miss a penalty.

Today will be a tough test for Rovers. It will be a test to see if the players have balls or not; a test to see if they can lift themselves and the fans.

Some of our player contract extensions have been bizarre, I hope these will not result in those players taking it easy knowing their money is secured for another two years.

Mowbray needs to mix it up. Brereton must start or we will be reading all sorts into his contract clauses.

We've not played well since Leeds although we defended against almost impossible odds v WBA. Both matches owed much to a terrific team spirit which was widely remarked upon. In between we had the strange Jeckyl and Hyde display at Swansea whilst our matches against QPR and Rotherham were both poor displays. 4 points disguising the poor performances to a degree as we couldn't have had a major grumble if we'd only ended up with two draws. v Rotherham particularly we didn't start until HT. Slow starts and an apparent lack of hunger / desire plagued us v PNE (for sure) and v Wigan too.
I don't know what ingredient it takes to get em back onto the front foot and starting at the first whistle but Mowbray needs to find it pdq. Freshening up the team I'd be looking to find places in the starting line up for Conway, Travis, Rothwell, Lenihan and a return for Bell and Bennett. Likely victims of my axe would be from Williams, Nyambe, Rodwell, Armstrong, Dack, Palmer and either Smallwood or Evans. Lets get back to a mean midfield / defence capable of stopping the opposition before we look to the other end of the pitch. We've defended absolutely amateurishly recently when one reviews the nature of the goals against. We've frequently outnumbered the opposing attackers only to concede feebly with hardly a tackle going in.
The form table has seen us plunge from the top half to 6th from bottom! If there is a saving grace it's that Wednesday are below us.... mind you so are Wigan! :worried:

I remember these fans giving an absolute kicking outside the kings whilst I waited my dad when I was about 12 or so , micky speight scored with a header from the edge of the box, funny how you can rember long time stuff but not from this season .
