Barmitzvah Boy

Global winner of the 2021 Christmas Quiz 👊🤩🤩
We now know who is coming up from L1:

- Wigan (so so away following at Ewood)
- Rotherham (poor away following at Ewood)
- Sunderland (should be a decent away following although I recall them bring about 70 on a cold midweek evening in 1991)

The above combined will bring more than Derby, Peterborough and Barnsley.

Coming down from the PL:

- Norwich (poor away support)
- Watford (poor away support)
- Leeds or Burnley (both Nobhead away support)

They replace:

- Fulham (garbage away support)
- Bournemouth (even crapper away support)
- Forest or Huddersfield (decent away support)

Our visiting clubs should hopefully swell the coffers a bit more in 22/23 and if our ST sales are as good as I am told they are then let’s hope for some much improved gates.

Those that didn't get them last season missed some good football.
Btw I was on the phone to a pal of mine last week who is a part pne part Man Utd fan(?). He went to deepdale and for once in his life was absolutely full of praise for the rovers and their brand and style of football. It must have taken a lot for him to say it but he thought the rovers looked a division above pne. Needless to say he couldn't understand the Mowbray issue.

Was that the 2-2 draw that we tried to sabotage by blocking the drains?

You wouldn't have known it going off the fan satisfaction levels. Atmosphere at Bournemouth was that toxic I left at half time.

Been the same issue for me the last few years now, I can't stand being around moaners. To be fair it usually just starts with 1-2, who with their expert knowledge of somewhere between the Blackburn combination and standing in the way on the school playground, feel obliged to instruct the team on every single pass/tackle/run etc.

The whole "get it wide!" constantly when goals from crosses are non-existent compared to 30 years ago. "Shoot!" to a player 35 yards out with a ball they've barely got control of. Angry groaning at misplaced passes when its generally only the difficult passes that actually create chances, so players need to try them.

Anyway, any time this running commentary isn't complied with, said moaner has a hissy fit and that's how it all starts. Thats the time to tell them to stfu, because 20 minutes of their nonsense and the other easily influenced people around you start joining in, then its 10 doing it.

I think my shield from this previously was always being right in the thick of the singers, it drowned them out. I guess going where the few remaining ones are is the only way I could go back. I miss the Darwen End under Big Sam though, 90 minutes of singing win, lose or draw. Good days.

Criticism of individuals does spread through a crowd like a virus. It's difficult to stop and difficult to turn back. One of the best creative midfield passers that I've seen in the blue and white was Tim Sherwood. Captain Fantastic who captained us to the Premier League triumph. A marvellous player who appeared to be like marmite to the Ewood crowd. Maybe his hair style but the odd thing is that another great passer with similarly long hair was Tugay and the crowd absolutely worshipped him and still worship his memory. Certainly Tugay had better ball control that\n Sherwood, in fact better ball control than any player I've seen in my time, but Sherwood could tackle and scrap with the best, not a quality associated with Toogs. I'd certainly have liked to see them play together that's for sure.

I couldn’t go to the Bournemouth game which was a bit of a relief because when Ewood is full of the discounted ticket crew , the experience isn’t great . Much prefer a semi- full Jack Walker Stand , with empty seats front , side and back , so I don’t have to listen to the ‘want to be’ football managers .

This guy whose been to two games in four years , both discounted , posted the following on BRFCS when the Mowbray hatred mob were at their peak and money bags Bournemouth were just too good . It’s quite funny really :

“ Just got back from the game. I've been in self imposed exile for four years, since the 28,000, on coming back to the very mediocre Championship. Today only reinforced my mind set to not go back in the stadium again until the tw*t of a manager leaves (has he not resigned?), and the Wankers sell. Words fail me as to today's "performance". Needing to win, it was pathetic/abject “

Top notch , post match forensic analysis .

The Darwen End at that time was brilliant. I suspect most of your post refers to the JWU and that’s part of the reason I’ve decided not to move my seat.

If you remember accurately Sherwood was pants in the old second division and only improved when we were promoted.

Ha well its a funny one with Tugay, he got a magnificent send-off and has been talked about in glowing terms ever since ("don't know what you've got till its gone"). But I remember the moaners turning on him too in spells. He'd play 3 cracking passes in a row, then mess one up and get the trademark angry groan.

I do ... and he was! Bit like the improvement in John Buckley over the last close season, I really never saw it coming.

Must have been left overs from the Sherwood / Wilcox fan club.

So Burnley it is this season.

I might invest in some double decker buses.
I usually raise a glass of claret with Sunday dinner. Tonight I shall down it in one! What a wonderful feeling it is that our friends from up the M65 can get rid of a decent manager just at the wrong time. Their financial situation is not looking good as I think they have to pay off rather a large loan if they got relegated.

We can play Leeds away in league and cup and still not waste as much time as the trip to Turd Moor
Be interesting to see how SW deals with it - I bet he wont have a clue how intense the rivalry is
