The world celebrates the Bard’s birthday today , although the exact date is not known . One of the English greats

Studied Julius Caesar for A level and it bored me rigid , until we went to see it at the Octagon and the saying ‘ a play is to be performed not read ‘ hit me between the eyes. One of my favourite bits :

Seriously OOT, the fact that he's still contemporary and relevant 400 years on, shows his true genius. I remember seeing a documentary about him by Michael Wood, and apparently the family had strong Lanccy connections, staying secretly loyal to the original faith, which many did in the area.

The National Theatre is streaming previous live performances during the lock down and currently showing Twelfth Night. Anthony & Cleopatra coming up in May...
