Great post Marlow, couldn't agree more on any of it. To think Bellamy was injured for half the season and the impact he still had, he'd have likely been talked about for decades if he'd played the full season. He was absolutely world class, I'd say the pinnacle of his career in terms of his performance level. His first at Portsmouth was something that would never even come off in training and that winner against Middlesbrough is even better put into context.

As I recall, we were 2-0 up that game, then someone got sent off (the Axe?), they pulled it back to 2-2 and we had 9 men camped on or behind the edge of our penalty area withstanding some serious pressure. Then we had Bellamy responsible for the entire rest of the pitch and generally up against 4 or more players. He was absolutely tireless in that second half, ran himself into the ground and still had the quality to pull off that finish. Right after it went in his celebration was just to fall to his knees which I think showed how little he had left in the tank.

Watch the video B&WH, it was Savage (I thought Tugay by memory) second yellow for a very innocuous handball in the centre circle. As Drog said above, shit refereeing and almost a game ruiner. Anyway it went as follows;
