The thing about political correctness as worshipped by the left is that it isn't politically correct. It's a vehicle for defending everything they like and attacking everything they don't like with no consideration of basic rules or consistency.

Record attacks on the shrinking Jewish population of this country year on year should be a matter of utter outrage yet the likes of the BBC never bother to mention it. Likewise hundreds of British muslims joining I.S. to participate in the slaughter of Christians in the middle east. The increasingly sexist adverts on TV also never get a mention (or outright attacks in the case of MTV), where white men are increasingly represented as either arrogant oppressors, clueless dads or moronic eye candy.

But pick something the left don't like, Trump, Brexit, Islamophobia, msyogony and we literally never hear the end of it. If only it was political correctness. It's something much more flawed and self-serving than that. It's the left's tactic for getting the right to shut up.
Try going to a synagogue in Manchester. There are security checks of: metal detectors; bag searches; cctv; and and checks for bombs. This is at a Reform Synagogue (you do not wear the clothing that Orthodox Jews are associated with). You take off your yarmulke when walking to and from the building so not to get abuse and this is in a so called multi ethnic and tolerant city. The Labour Party and their anti-semitism has not helped.

Horrifying but depressingly unsurprising. I'm going to dispense with the niceities on this and as Yoda said call a spade a spade. The rise in anti-semitism is in direct correlation with the rise of Islam in this country and I'm certain the 2 are related.

Granted the far-right have always had a contemptibly disgraceful attitude towards Jews. But they are very few in number these days. The attacks are coming from muslims and their lap-dog hard left sympathisers.

Its a grossly under-hyped problem in my opinion, a religion is being hounded out of existence in this, a first world 21st century country, and the media are too scared to confront it. History tells us to consider who's next. If I was a Sikh I'd be starting to get nervous.

Hence Israel's firm but hard line intransigence when dealing with neighbouring nations who constantly declare their animosity towards their nation and peoples. Israel is cornered and has had it's back to the wall for 70 years.
The sons of Abraham have much to answer for..... as have the daft buggers today who constantly perpetuate the myths.

Thoughts from this Oldie have, of late centered around having a 53 year old body, but, a mind that's convinced you're still 30 years old. Played 5 aside last night with my son and a few of his friends, then out for beers after. Christ! I wish I hadn't! Can barely move now and to top it all, as Saddam would say, I have "The Mother of all hangovers". Time to F****ing grow up me thinks. Still, don't they say, " You don't stop having fun when you grow old, you grow old, when you stop having fun!;)

Where do the years disappear to ? I remember Norman cutting my hair on the way home from primary school ( St Mary’s , Clayton le Moors ) when I was in Junior 4 , 1969 . I thought he was really old , but he must have only been around 21 ! Cutting hair for 50 years in the same shop ( salon for the younger viewers ) , after serving his apprenticeship

He was always smart and didn’t stand for any messing about . I guess lots of Barbers used to use the same line but when he finished my short back and sides ( if it wasn’t short enough my Dad would send me back ) he’d say in front of a full shop “ you’ll get a girlfriend now “ . Made me squirm & blush in the chair .

Great times in a much different era , enjoy your well earned retirement Norman .

Interesting thread ..... hope it's OK to post because I'm afraid I don't qualify as an "oldie".

Just wondered what the pensioners think of their local Wetherspoons ..... is it too trendy or does it have the requisite amount of spit and sawdust ?

Ignore the past at your peril,
Ignore the collective memories of the aged also at your peril, for these are the ones that saved you from a life of submission.
They created a world that gives you the freedom to say the words you utter.

Rather a slight on the socialists that there is any anti-semitic racism at all in their party. Goes completely against the facade of socialist doctrine doesn't it?

Anyway I'm surprised no one's asked this of you JimBenJon....

1. Are you in accordance with the Labour party and Jeremy Corbyn an anti semite too?

2. Would you like to see the State of Israel razed to the ground and the Israelis scattered to the four winds in accordance with the desires of the entire muslim world?

3. Would you support and share a platform with the leaders of Hamas?

If you answer 'Yes' to any of the above how do you reconcile that with any humanitarian principles which you profess to hold?

Probably your most childish post yet. Do the other kids bully you at school?

It's funny that in Aboriginal culture the "old" have the wisdom. They are revered among their family of peoples.
Why?
Because they know the land, they know where the water is, they can find food, they pass their knowledge down, which enables the family to live and survive.
If they turf the "oldies" out, they wither and die. Language, history, and families gone forever.
(family, in aboriginal culture means the tribe they belong to)

My post you quoted was from July 2017 and looking down the items from your link, there is no BBC story on anti-semitism for 2 years between April 2016 and March 2018. So at the point of writing my post, the last BBC article on anti-semitism was 15 months ago.

Nice try Jimbo, never let examining source dates get in the way of a good rebuttal. Pretty staggering you used to be a journalist.
