Supporting a club like ours has always been about going through thick and thin together though isn't it? Probably always will be too until the axe eventually falls.
Indeed and I’m afraid the way things are going , we’re going to have much more of the thin than the thick . As we all know Blackburn is changing at a rate of knots and one wonders where the next generations of fans are going to come from .
Take a look at the famous East Lancs Cricket Club and their frighteningly rapid demise over the last twenty years . If you need an example of how changing demography can change things , there you have it .
I’ll always support the Famous Blue and White Halves but I’m from a different era , an era when many went into Blackburn for their housing , their schooling , their nightlife , their shopping and their football ( The Rovers ! ) .
I now fear for the future of the Rovers . When a large proportion of the town’s population is indifferent , blasé or has no historical/ generational link to its club , then how can it survive , let alone thrive ?
So those fans who say they’re withdrawing financial support and aren’t going to buy a season ticket because of the Venkys , Steve Waggott , Tony Mowbray or Uncle Tom Cobley and all , well , they’re just hammering more nails into the coffin .
