Despite their formidable points total and despite having a homer on the whistle that Wigan looked nowt special. I'm naturally cautious but I have to say that from what I have seen from teams in this division that Mowbray really needs to be less so imo. With the players that he has at his disposal we really need to be selecting a more attacking line up from the start of games. Who knows if we'd had Chapman and Dack on together from the start we might have been 1-0 up when Bennett got his marching orders. Maybe instead of setting out to hold teams to 0-0 before putting on the cavalry with 20-30 mins to go we should be starting with the cavalry and putting on players for the last 20 mins to slam the door shut and see the match out.

In the car on the way back.
Shame it couldnt stay 11 v 11 as I felt we were always in with a chance.
Admirable defending in the last few minutes when we were down to 9 men.
Hope Chapman's injury isn't too serious.
A point gained given the circumstances.

Completely agree. We could and should have beaten Wigan but ToMo went for a draw. An attacking side would have put Wigan to the sword.

0/10 for the referee; he was appalling and the sending off was a joke.

Imagine Wigan will be happier simply because they are still in the automatic promotion spots. I would say the same if it was the other way round at Ewood and with Wigan in 7th.

Maybe he was over cautious (even some of the top managers look at Mourinho recently at Anfield) but the gameplan obviously had to change following the red card. Still remember the Wolves game last season so can't say with any certainty that the manager has the killer instinct from an instructional/tactical standpoint. A clean sheet with 9 men at the end does show some level of fight though lack of leaders is still a big problem.

Bennett will now miss the Fleetwood game presumably. Maybe the club will be hoping for a flooded pitch or something as an excuse to postpone it this time .

In bold, that don't make sense Vinjay, no way would be happy the other way round

Tony Mowbray yet again changed things round and yet again gave far too respect to the opponents and the first half was poor. We made the same mistake with Nick Powell as we did with Jack Byrne at Oldham. We gave him the freedom of the park. By the end of the first half we were getting on top. Then enter the ref. The first yellow card Bennett recieved looked a justified decision. The second half began and Rovers were the better team. Dack should of found the target. Then enter the ref again.

The sending off of Bennett was a very poor decision which I cannot justify. The booking of Smallwood was petty, but Smallwood was silly in the way that he got himself booked. We will miss him on Tuesday. Chapman's booking was also petty and silly.

Even with 10 men we looked like the more likely to score, even though Wigan hit the post. Chapman should have rolled the ball to an unmarked Graham for a tap in. Graham likewise to Caddis but found disgracefully found the Wigan defender.

There were questions about Mowbray's substiutions again. Did the fact that Chapman had zero warming up contribute to his hamstring injury? Why spend 15 minutes warming Evans up to bring Caddis on with no warming up? Conway had the beating of his full back why bring him off for a fullback? This only invited pressure on us.

This manager tries to over complicate things which need not. I understand he thought that Wigan would come at us from the start so I can understand the need to keep it tight early on but playing Antonsson on his own up front only invited pressure onto ourselves as he was out muscled for everything. Graham needed to start. When he came on the game changed, he held the ball he passed the ball into areas which allowed us to break.

There were positives, when the right players are on the field we continue to create chances and at some stage those chances will start to go in. 5 clean sheets in 5 games means Downing has to continue playing. It was good to see Whittingham receiving a bollocking from Smallwood for not being close to him when closing the ball down. At last someone trying to boss our team into being organised. We looked better organised with 10 men and looked more danderous than 11 shows we can organise and play.

Now I generally show a certain understanding of poor decisions by match officials but not this time! I've got to say that as I watched this live (and from an angle on the half way line behind the Ref) I expected the Oldham player to be yellow carded by Darren England for lunging at Bennett.
Not only that but Bennett's initial yellow card was more than a little harsh and the yellow /red card score is completely inaccurate in the context of the match.

Watch all of this if you want but the incident is 5mins 18 seconds in.

Even worse yellow cards cannot be appealed!

I think most of the comments heard on the audio of the clip would reflect my views on the decision, although perhaps slightly less eloquently :)

Absolutely right. Mowbray is far too cautious. We'll never get into the top 2 defending for three quarters of the match. I like Mowbray but maybe we need a more positive manager. Dack and Chapman are our best players and they won't score goals spending half their time on the bench and they need to be on together. I'm becoming very frustrated by this manager.

Like I said that's only because they are still in the automatic promotion spots. Of all the fixtures which Wigan could drop home points in there's a lot worse. I wouldn't be too concerned in their position and fully believe they will win the league. Maybe I'm wrong and they aren't happier but they should be in their current situation. Its not like Real Madrid or Man United where the fans aren't happy however much they win.
