A night to remember in the big smoke for @Cymru. The Hollywood crew won't have liked that, much.

Pears
A very solid showing. Felt he could have positioned himself better for Wrexham's goal, but out of our current two goalkeppers, he is visibly more commanding than his colleague.

Hyam
A very steady performance. Handled Mullin very well. Starting to get back to the Hyam we saw last season.

S Wharton
Good passing on the ball. He's noticeably improved in that front.

Rankin-Costello
Showed the strength that we've been lacking as part of our back four or five. Played with fight and a swagger.

Garrett
Not his greatest showing. Gave the ball away cheaply for Wrexham's goal and deserved a yellow by the second-half.

Tronstad
Delighted to see him get his first goal in Rovers' colours. Steady as always, held the fort, and pulled the strings. A good game from him as usual. It's always Sonny in Philadelphia.

Moran
Some decent play but still looks short of confidence. I think he will pick up again.

Dolan
Played very well on his first start for two months. Nice touches, lots of hard work, with just a tiny bit of rust here and there.

Szmodics
Man of the Match. Was full of energy and everywhere. A good brace and probably deserved a hat-trick. Great application as always.

Sigudsson
Some decent runs here and there. I can't recall much else.

Gallagher
Intelligent pull-back for Szmodics equaliser. Easy decision for his goal against Wrexham's onrushing foolish goalkeeper. Made a good tackle for Tronstad's goal. We need this man playing up front because the others aren't currently cutting it in that position. If he goes, he must be replaced with a physical player.

As for the subs...

Telalović
Neat bits of play. Showed glimpses of quality. One for the future.

Atcheson
Too little time on the pitch to notice, but heard great things about him in the U21s. Will be a boost for him to get senior game time.

Markanday
Too litte time on the pitch to notice.

Overall, we did a very professional job on them. Similar to Cambridge, the opposition were only competitive in the first half an hour or so, but we turned them over easily in the end, and it could have been more.

Bring on the Magpies.

A better Rovers fans turn out than expected. I enjoyed that tonight. It could have been 7 or 8 for Rovers but who is complaining. That was a good confidence booster and it was good to see Dolan and the wonderful Gallagher back 🤓

That was so good to watch on IPlayer! Rovers put on a masterful performance to silence their crowd and their media. Fair play to Ashley Williams and Nathan Blake who both said Rovers outplayed them and were too good for Wrexham.
I thought Rovers were almost back to their early season form with quick accurate passing and good movement. Sammy should have had at least another one.
JDT was delighted in his on pitch interview at the end and his philosophy is basically that of Guardiola that if you keep the ball then the opposition can’t have it. He wants us to play like that. It was great to see Dolan and Gallagher back.
Nathan Blake said there is no way we are in a relegation scrap as we are too good a footballing team but both warned that if Sammy left we might have a problem scoring.
A really satisfying win tonight and I’m buzzing!

On Gallagher, I have this horrible feeling that, like Bell and others, we put them through painful development and when they're finally starting to look good and confident, they're off for nothing. Maybe we can get a couple of million for Gallagher but what poor management of him over the years.
👍

If players refuse a new contract what can the club do? If the club do not offer the player a new contract they have a agent who hawks the player around .No doubt Gally will move on a better contract.I would just put him on gardening leave as we have found out in the last two seasons these out of contract players play at 60%.

Where is it said that he’s refused a new contract?

Just on Wrexham I think we are the most popular club in England today after dumping them out of the cup. I get the impression that they are not well liked.

For shits and giggles, check out this pre-match interview with a Wrexham supporter.

What he said: "I'm feeling confident. Blackburn are struggling. We play well against the better sides. I think we can surprise them and get a result. It'll be like a home game for us. Blackburn have only sold 5,000 or 6,000."

What was real: Wrexham got their arses whooped for 85 long minutes. The score was 4-1 - a scoreline which flattered them. There were around 11,000 Rovers supporters there - twice as many as you believed.

He was right about causing a surprise and getting a result. For all the noise about "7,000 Wrexham fans from Hollywood" bollocks, they were certainly a surprise - surprisingly awful and didn't once "go for it". And they got a result which was a 4-1 defeat. So credit where credit's due.

Where is the vocal @Cymru, anyway? I want to hear how his experience of the magic of the cup was. I assume he's a standup guy who will be as forthright about Wrexham after a humbling as he was since they were drawn against us.

A decent account, but someone must have explained to the creator of that blog that it's NUFC at home for the winner.

Cheers so he hasn’t refused to sign a new contract then.
That site is pretty good and says we have a further 12 month extension on the contract that runs out in June should we wish to exercise that option.
