I remember Wayne as he was from Chorley. Think he made a few 1st team appearances before being loaned out and then dropped down the leagues. Pretty sure he had a cracking spell on loan at Blackpool.
Goalkeeper I recall.....did he ever play in the first team? What about Frank Talia?
Relative's husband was at the club at that time and said he was brilliant...whilst on trial!Sebastian Pelzer
Dave Hargreaves played off and on for Sacred Heart ( Accrington ) in the Salford Diocesian Cup in the 1970s . Those lads from the Salford parishes couldn't get the ball off him. At that level his dribbling skills were outstanding !John Kenyon, Peter Devine and Dave Hargreaves all local lads from the 70's and 80's whose flame flickered only very briefly at Ewood.
Yes he did. I must say he ran at me with the ball one match dummied one way,wDave Hargreaves played off and on for Sacred Heart ( Accrington ) in the Salford Diocesian Cup in the 1970s . Did he play for the Rovers against Blackpool in a televised game at Bloomfield Road ?
Yes he did. Missed a sitter I seem to remember and didn't show up very well either despite scoring freely for Stanley. (Just googled and he scored over 300 goals for Stanley before Rovers gave him his chance but he was unable to step up.)Dave Hargreaves played off and on for Sacred Heart ( Accrington ) in the Salford Diocesian Cup in the 1970s . Great memories Drog . Haggis ( his nickname ) was a heck of a player & in amateur & semi pro , a real talent . I remember paying to watch him play for Stanley at the Crown Ground in the Lancs Combination after he'd made the step up . Only a hop , skip and a jump from where I lived , Rovers one week , Stanley the next if the home fixtures didn't clash .Yes he did. I must say he ran at me with the ball one match dummied one way,w

I rem one Sunday morning with the score 0-0 and just about 10 mins left he ran down the wing and cut in toward me in the left back position with the ball apparently tied to his laces, he dummied one way, went the other and I sat down! ....... whilst he rounded me and stuck it away in the bottom corner! FT 0-1 and out of the Cup.
Was he a physio or something ?away from players who remembers tony long.
Also played with Haggis as we knew him back then, along with another local lad couple of streets away, Jeff Whalley who I think made two appearance, he moved to Australia playing over there, returned maybe 20yrs ago and ran a paper shop in Oswadtwistle.John Kenyon, Peter Devine and Dave Hargreaves all local lads from the 70's and 80's whose flame flickered only very briefly at Ewood. I've played against two of them in the Blackburn Sunday league which back then was full of nearly men, has beens and never has beens. I rem playing many times against a player who had been a very young sub on the bench of a brilliant Man City team that beat us 1-4 on a freezing night in the late 60's That team fielded the likes of Lee, Summerbee and Bell and Malcolm Allison referred to the lad as the guy who will be the 1st million pound centre half. Needless to say that never progressed and he ended up playing sunday football with his mates.
yes he was . He sorted me out many times when I was injured wrestling.Top bloke , no idea where or what hes doing now.Simon Ireland
