Steve parish answering the flack from fans for de boer on Twitter, interesting https://mobile.twitter.com/ceo4tag?lang=en
There has to be a mix in any team. Allardyce mixed it up when he interpreted the Bosman Freedom of Contract ruling beforee anyone else and managed to get the likes of Okocha, Djorkaef and the excellent Campo in his Bolton team. He'd likely have done the same here if the Trust were not planning their exit strategy. Hughes was doing a 'Sam' here but was driven out when he saw the writing on the wall.Knew that would be your immediate response. You will probably say De Boer should have signed Lowe next.
The man retired what could they do? If Allardyce did return it should be on the same financial terms since he's the one who chose to leave. Palace shouldn't whore themselves out for him. I'm still surprised he didn't take a lucrative managerial job in Middle East after his England firing. I guess he wanted to leave English football on somewhat better terms. He's already said he isn't interested in returning to Palace and typically its ego related. You might think he's relegation teflon man but he even admitted he would be bound to fail at some point and does not want to lose that record.
I see he's criticised them for the style De Boer has tried to implement. That's the philosophy De Boer has with his background at Ajax (and most coaches associated with that club have the same beliefs) while Allardyce was a lower league defensive clogger in his career. Granted he's right that Palace need to sort out their defensive issues but does that have to be at the expense of a passing game? Clubs like Swansea have managed it without being relegated. Personally I like fast, flowing aggressive (but attractive) football not passing in triangles for the sake of it so there has to be a balance.
As for international football I made a point about Graham Taylor's style not long ago and he failed with England. It probably would have been the same with Allardyce. OK Greece won Euro 2004 with a style of play that made Allardyce's look exotic but usually its one of the strongest nations who wins. Even if he had won something with England in my opinion it would have been a lesser achievement than winning a major league title. I still don't know how the hell Leicester managed their win but that's really an exception. An average manager can certainly win a tournament but very rarely can they win a major league.
Thought when Parrish started defending him (and also himself I guess) on twitter he would probably be gone within a day.If Palace and Parrish had any sense they'd have bundled Dyche into their coach on Sunday and abducted him.
In order Vinjay.....Hodgson isn't an awful choice and he's a better manager than Allardyce in my view.
Its only September anyway. Would be very underwhelmed with Dyche in their position. Granted some of it is because I don't like his appearance (Billy Davies being another he looks like he's chomping on a wasps nest or swallowed sour milk) but with EPL money they could attract a good calibre of international coach.
1. People who have been around as long as Brian Glanville side with me on Allardyce v Hodgson. While it didn't end well (an appalling injury situation didn't help though I'll agree his signings were poor besides Henchoz) the good stuff initially was way beyond anything Allardyce has ever dreamed of. I also felt Hodgson may have been more suited to international football with his coaching skills but not having to sign players or work with them daily. If Capello couldn't succeed with England then who the hell can? Do you think there's a case to be made that people have unrealistic expectations for the national side? Not that winning a knockout tournament is beyond England but people hype it up so much and people fall for it every time.In order Vinjay.....
1. Wash out your mouth with soap. I'd have Big Sam back in an instant over Hodgson. tbh if Woy even dreamed that he was a better manager thna Allardyce he'd better wake up and apologise!
2. Underwhelmed with Dyche? All logic and reasoning went right out of the window there. He's done and is continuing to do a fantastic job with Burnley. Defying gravity with their resources and wage limit would be an apt description. I'd go so far as to say that Dyche is currently the best English manager.
3. I though De Boer was considered a good calibre international coach.
Why should they go for someone who wants to use them as a stepping stone for England? Its not the holy grail. Its a job with little appreciation (even if England won a tournament the manager/players would be berated as soon as they lose the next game) and inflated levels of pressure. If a manager wanted to go abroad and manage Barcelona or Real Madrid (lol at the thought of them appointing Dyche but I'm talking about English managers in general) that's one thing but why England? Why does it absolutely have to got for an English candidate? That's small minded its not 1996 with "Arsene who?" ignorance.Palace should pay what it takes to get Sean Dyche I see him as a future England manager.
