This is Cahill's crossing in the Northern Territory.
It's the border between Kakadu and Arnhem Land.
It's not wide, has a causeway to drive over, It's tidal even though it's quite a way from the coast.
However, if the water is just , and I mean "just" a little bit deeper than you estimate, this is what happens.
The other problem that arises when you get washed off the causeway is how to avoid the crocs.
Truly wonderful area of our planet that is a must see.

Where have you been that's a must see?

The Anti Atlas Mountains in North Africa. Stunning, unspoiled, remote and you can trek for days without seeing a soul.

Think I'll give it a miss tbh dave. The prospect of spending two days in a metal tube breathing in the air of 400 others simply horrifies me. You definitely haven't sold it to me that's for sure.

I have been a few times, never again. The ice cream bar we went to was bombed 4 days after we went, and the bomb was where we sat.

i used to love the place and the riad. However the last time you could feel the tension and see the rise in fundamentalism. The local synagogue has armed guards 24/7.

Take your point drog.

How about something a bit closer to you? Ever been to Canada, Quebec city? Lots of restaurants and bars, particularly in the old city.

I've been to Canada six or seven times over the years with a lot of those in recent times with my daughter marrying a canuck (they now live in Aus).
Great food, great beer and, surprisingly some excellent wines.

Quebec was somewhere I had planned for later this year. I was also going to Peru this Wednesday.

You will not get me going long haul for a long longtime.

I may just do the flight to Malaga next April for the 22 day Andalucía Coast to Coast walk which finishes in Bolonia and them a flight home from either Seville or Gibraltar. I am desperate to do this walk but the idea of sitting on a plane with snotty, sneezing and coughing trash is a worry.

I think if I'd to leave these shores I'd strongly consider moving to Canada..... whether they'd consider me is another matter!

Sorry rovers95, I've given snow away. Anything below 10c is too cold for me.

BB, have you ever done a Camino through Spain? Always longed to do it the right way, but never had the opportunity, and then age got in the way

Hi Dave, yes this time last year I was doing the Coastal Camino, 310km. It was brilliant.

I intend to do a tour involving Paradors at some stage. Only stayed in one about 20 years ago but it was in an absolutely breathtaking setting (castle on a mountain top) in Jaen and fantastic value for money. I have to say at this point that we went in early April before the prices are hiked for the summer.
