The next Rovers manager

Ok but like when you say Rovers should get in the play-offs because Luton and Barnsley did, I don't see how picking out the 2 best performing examples is a good argument for what you expect to happen.

Arguably I did the same picking out a worst performing example in Berg. So the real question is how often overall do managers with only club experience in minor countries do well in the Championship? Maybe it is more than half, but it seems a risk to me.

Course everything seems a risk when we've sacked a manager who finished 8th with the, I assume, specific purpose of improving on that.
We didn't sack Mowbray. He decided to walk away cos Rovers wouldn't offer him a new contract.
I'm glad he's gone now.

I agree not a terrible choice, but still think its a bit worrying when managers only have success from minor leagues on their CV. Berg, legend though he is, is a contender for worst Rovers manager of all time with 1 win in 10 games (with a team Kean had 3rd).

I guess Berg didn't actually win anything in Norway unlike JDT in Sweden.
Berg wasn't picking the team (see Bradley Orr video) add in the fact that he was bullet proof thanks to a massive cock up by the shelf master
It was almost worth fucking up - his lawyer was probably advising him to get sacked - get the massive pay-out and move on (I can just imagine Bergs lawyer saying sign it quick Henning I will explain later - cue champagne and a good belly laugh!)
You couldn't make it up - unless you were a crook?

Never in all my years have I wanted a manager to succeed as much

I just couldn't bear the "I told you so"

It is done! We are where we are
Allerdyce has gone
Bowyer has gone
Mowbray has gone

its the real problem that we NEED to go!!

Exactly Steve. It is time for the fan base to take a glass half full attitude and get behind the new team management.
My thoughts exactly throughout last season.

I always get behind Rovers at the ground, I remember arguing with a load of lads at Wigan the night Ince got sacked after our 3-0 defeat. Embarassing in hindsight, we were awful and they were right. But I'm very much a 12th man person and you won't ever see me giving JDT or whoever stick at games like the anti-Mowbray lot gave him.

On here though, my opinion is we're getting a worse manager out of the likely options. I'm sure the fanbase will get behind whoever it is, but IMO for the rather superficial reason that he's new and everyone likes a change. Once he stops being new, and if we're not in the play-offs, I assume he'll start getting stick sooner or later.

It will be interesting to see how Venkys will back him up. They must have offered him something to sign the dotted line, right?

surely for a rookie a good salary and a place on English football's managerial ladder should be enough incentive?

Anti-Mowbray lot??
I never heard anything apart from the odd voice here and there
There was never a full crowd chorus of Mowbray out - ever!
There has only been 2 or 3 on here with strong anti-Mowbray feelings
Sorry - but it's a false narrative

In fairness to b&wh steve there was a number of "Mowbray, Mowbray sort it out" chants through the season. Nothing as viscous or personal as the crap Allardyce had hurled at him. I can only assume the reason for the difference is that those knob heads have stopped going to Ewood.

But even those were pretty mutted
And on fairness were pretty much deserved at times
He flatly refused to do what was bloody obvious to those watching
