Monday the 13th!!! I thought footballers were superstitious?

Maybe 13 is a lucky number in Sanskrit.

An “impeccable source” as quoted by Jim Wilkinson says that Jon Dahl Tomasson is our new manager. BB is spot on with the 13th it seems.

No confidence in JDT to lead a championship side. Suspect he will be gone at Xmas with us in the bottom four. We shall see anyways!

I'm hoping for a "Postecoglu" from him.
Relatively unknown, but got the trust of the players quickly, developed them into his style, brought in a few who were also unknown, and voila. Success at the first hit.
Yeah, ok it probably wont work to the same level here, but one never knows, maybe a seventh position next season?

A vote of confidence, Dunny!😉 Lets reserve judgement but very much a leap in the dark.
A manager with no real relevant experience and a director of football who’s taken up his first DoF role having been in charge of academy only recruitment.
Not the appointments an established club makes if I’m honest. Hopefully il be pleasantly suprised!

JDT has been head coach at Malmo for 2 years and also 2 other spells as the head coach. Plus number 2 coach of the Denmark national team for around 3 years. How much experience does he need? Farke and Wagner never had that much experience when they were at Norwich and Huddersfield.

I agree not a terrible choice, but still think its a bit worrying when managers only have success from minor leagues on their CV. Berg, legend though he is, is a contender for worst Rovers manager of all time with 1 win in 10 games (with a team Kean had 3rd).

I guess Berg didn't actually win anything in Norway unlike JDT in Sweden.

Minor leagues with 1 sacking and 1 relegation. 2 league wins with a vastly high budget for Malmö guided by a DoF who is seemingly a bright chap but who’s never had that gig before. It’s naive in the extreme. It’s going to be a long hard season ahead.

Would have been better giving Tony a bit to spend

what had Farke and Wagner done before they got their clubs promote.

and?

Managed Malmo in the champions league. He also been part of Coaching staff Denmark before Malmo.

Mowbray had more than enough money to spend during his 5 and half years here. Rightly gone.

I think Tomasson is an interesting choice and I pleased we have gone for Foreign head coach route. Think a foreign head coach will suit our new footballing structure and hopefully we can do better than last season

Will suit our new footballing structure which we have seemingly rushed to implement into place which has more holes than Swiss cheese and isn’t very experienced at this level of football. Jeez your easily pleased.

Being an assistant at international level isn’t a badge of honour, if someone offered you Southgate we’d all run I suspect. No one decent these days ends up as international manager.

We will see. What are the bottom four odds for us this year out of interest?

How was it rush when I believe we used a recruitment agency to find us director of football.
Head coach is hopefully announce today or tomorrow.
Pre season training starts next Monday.

Southgate is a very good international manager. Produced our best results since Terry Venables.

No idea on those odds. I've put a bet on us getting promote this season along with Derby getting promoted from League 1 and Bradford from league 2.

Ok but like when you say Rovers should get in the play-offs because Luton and Barnsley did, I don't see how picking out the 2 best performing examples is a good argument for what you expect to happen.

Arguably I did the same picking out a worst performing example in Berg. So the real question is how often overall do managers with only club experience in minor countries do well in the Championship? Maybe it is more than half, but it seems a risk to me.

Course everything seems a risk when we've sacked a manager who finished 8th with the, I assume, specific purpose of improving on that.
