Interesting game. Up until we scored I thought we were terrible, every pass went either sideways or backwards until it either ended up with Kaminsky booting it out of play or straight back to them, or until they intercepted one in a dangerous position. That first 20 minutes I thought this is going to be a very long night and probably another 3-0 defeat. But a sublime pass from Dack and lovely finish from Brereton later, and our defence were suddenly finding midfielders with passes, who were then regularly setting us going on the attack. I assume this is a confidence thing more than anything which is understandable after 3 defeats.

In terms of the team, as has been mentioned Wharton was excellent. Also thought Hedges and Dack had good games. Think we're only getting 75% effort from Brereton (which is still pretty good for this level, but at his best I think he could be chewing teams up) but I guess that's inevitable with his possible move today. Nothing against the lad but Dolan is now looking like a player Preston would let go, poor shooting/passing, mediocre dribbling and no strength/speed, thought Vale was a big improvement when he replaced him.

Well that's how it looked to me. Not saying 50%, he's definitely not half-assing it and trying to force the move, but he looked like a player looking after himself injuries-wise and conserving his energy for the rest of the season (which may well not be here).

I think he's now back to his best after his injuries and dip in form in the 2nd half of last season. And Brereton at his best should be putting the fear of god into teams like Blackpool rather than a 7-8 out of 10 performance with 2 shots on target.

There were a few times in the first half where he got it on the right wing with space in front and just passed it backwards and stood there. Our only option then was to switch the play, which is madness when we just had our best player on the ball with space to attack.

First and last 10 minutes were awful. But almost everything in between was great.

Just goes to show how you really need to get the 2nd goal as we bossed the game yet could easily have been robbed at the end with those headers narrowly going over. I do not know why they were whining about that penalty (for Pool) not being given - it was a pretty stupid thing to do by Carter, but Yates also had a piece of his shorts and more and that's probably why he didn't complain. Ref was ok in the end.

The usual dross 2 minute max highlights could easily show that game as being pretty even though I think Kaminski only had one save to make (and that game from us messing around with the ball at the back).
I think a better team would have punished both us and pool for trying to tiki taki too much above our level. Still, 3 points is 3 points. Both in the Championship and the predictions table. ;)

Preston do not concede goals and we do not do draws.

So just because an 18 year old boy had him in his pocket he has run off to Greece?

Seems there is no hiding place for the violent bruisers. The likes of Jordan, Lochhead, Keeley, Hunter, Smith etc would have to try a different sport if they were 20 now.
