Hence my thinking way back when Jack swept into the club. We were in he 2nd Div (Championship) whilst every local rival back then were struggling in either the old 3rd or 4th Divisions with tiny attendances. My long term solution to providing top quality football to the 'passionate' supporters in Lancashire whom you mention SG was for Jack to buy every local club, sell their grounds to the nearest supermarket with an open cheque book and amalgamate the whole lot into one North West County team. 8000 die hards from 5 clubs is 40k in a bad season and that was enough to sustain a club in the top division. OK so now even the crowds at NUFC, Everton, Villa ec don't make them a big fish without some dodgy oligarch or arab taking them over to launder some funny money but an amalgamated Lancashire club would be a lot more attractive than li'l ol BRFC with a perennially dwindling support base. As I look into the future I see little hope for the Rovers to remain a major force in football unfortunately.
Here he goes again

Sorry guys. I just refuse to live in he past and base my support on hopeless misty eyed nostalgia. Jack had a great opportunity to move football in Lancashire fwd into the 21st century and didn't take it. It was his money of course so he could do what he wanted. Who knows maybe if he'd been 25 when he took over he might have seen things differently.
Oh btw I won't need to make 173 o be proven right steve. :pensive:,

I recall Maxwell attempting to amalgamate Oxford and Reading. His plans were defeated by protests and marches. What have those two done since? Oxfords av attendance since 2000 has been circa 6000 whilst Reading had their own Jack Walker era under Madjeski and fared a little better. Neither won owt, neither ever will and as the die hards grow old and near their time their kids and grandkids will be supporting Chelsea or Man Utd etc. Good eh?

Lets hope the fans turn out in force for the West Brom game next Sunday, there's a real feel good factor about the club at the moment, for the first time in years. I know 25 quid for an adult ticket isn't cheap, but when you consider Fulham were charging £100 for an adult and £70 for a child in their new stand today, it doesn't seem that bad!

My early estimate for the crowd would be 16 to 18,000, let's hope it's nearer the latter.

Was just thinking similar. 4.5 k walk ins against QPR should easily be bettered against the baggies. I agree with your estimate.

Attendance at Nob End last night was 14,479 (601 away). This will be thanks to their cheap ST’s. It sounds like they have very few walk on attendees.

I hope our good start has boosted our own ST sales.
