That letter is appreciated but it comes from the man who tried to flog the academy pitch for housing. I haven't forgotten that.

I can't see the fuss about that just so long as the facilities for the Academy, Training and Treatment are maintained or even better improved. The latest tech in treating injuries can't be cheap can it and getting injured players back on the pitch in as short a time as possible is critical. Let's be honest here cos Real Madrid sell their ground to the City every few years or so to generate funnymoney and their fans have come to welcome it.

To put that sum into perspective the Academy is doing brilliantly but it desperately needs to come up with the next Grealish AND Kane doesn't it?

For me we're losing it because we have 10,000 fans attending games (gate revenue) and about maybe 20,000 across the globe watching games (sponsorship revenue) and buying shirts (merchandise revenue).

This translates to a pretty paltry £17m per season income, which isn't enough to be competitive in the Championship. Venkys obviously want us to be that, so are funding a wage bill of around £25m which is causing the constant big losses.

Put simply, we're virtually a League 1 club competing at the top end of the Championship, so someone has to foot the bill for that.
