Dunno where I've heard that phrase before but it just came into ma heed lyk when I was thinking of NUFC and it fit's perfectly.
Funny club to draw right now is Newcastle in a month where we have just played two major underachieving football clubs. This must qualify for a hat trick inside a month.
NUFC with their die hard supporters (btw lets explode the myth here, sure they get lots of sell outs but lets remember that they had less than 17000 average in 81/82. 82/83 and 91/92) were rejuvinated by Sir John Hall in the same way that Jack W did for us, sadly they have always had much more potential being stuck up in a large city with a huge hinterland to glean support from and just one main rival in Sunderland. Sadly just as they were resurrected Jack Walker's influence has blossomed and faded drastically. I won't go into the reasons cos everyone on here knows them. If you can't figure it out then give Lee Anderson a call in the morning.
So head to head and the Rovers have generally fared well at Ewood v NUFC over the years with 38 wins v 17 for Newcastle and 15 draws. Of course there is a chasm of wealth between then now that they are backed by Saudia Arabia. That's the country FFS! What a state isn't it when a football club has to be funded by overseas nations with ulterior motives to have a tilt at success. How the authorities have let this happen can only be because they too want to ride in the 1st class seats on the Premier League gravy train. Sick.
No idea what team we'll put out because apart from the wealth generated from this fixture (and at this point I have to say I'm not sure of the rules in the event of a draw but I seem to think there will be no reconvening in a much needed lucrative tie at St James Park and that Tuesday's match will be finalised on Tuesday after ET and penalties) we don't really need any distractions / injuries / fatigue from threaterning our safety in the league at this time.
