Ben Brereton?

Old Darwen Blue

Prediction Champion 2021, 2022 & 2023
It was offside and wasn’t an open goal as the keeper was there?

It was an absolute sitter.

Oh well that's alright then. One thing's for sure it most certainly wouldn't have counted if he'd been onside either!

Think he's been great this season. For me his recovery started with injecting more aggression into his game. Suddenly he wanted a scrap with strikers, and his confidence and work-rate has grown from there.

Wasn't much of an attacking threat against Millwall but his work defensively to help Bell who was getting rinsed by that Romeo was excellent. Along with Gallagher's improvement I'm getting increasingly less bitter about what they cost.

That's three of you? One more and his fan club will be a car full! Meanwhile as for me it's clear that I should have gone to specsavers. :p

Dunno if any statto one can be bothered to check but I'd wager good money that those two have cost more than the entire rest of the squad.

No, we just haven't had any wins. His replacement Gallagher put an energetic shift in and was desperately unlucky today not to score two.

As it looks now I would prefer Brereton on the pitch rather than Gallagher. This doesn’t mean that I am convinced that he will be a good player. He needs to perform better against the bigger boys if he want to be something. Brereton looks more hungry this season and do create more for others than Gallagher in my opinion.

I tend to agree Robin. Brereton also does a lot of decent defensive work. The icing on the cake would be to have an attacker who can head the ball as we are woefully short of such a basic skill at present.

Good point about the heading. Gallagher is a big boy and he should do better with headers and blocking of the ball. However he is easily outmuscled by opponents. I think his best strength is running with the ball towards goal and he looks to have a decent shot from time to time.

I agree Brereton's work rate and defensive cover has gone unnoticed by some folk of this good parish, but he was also looking a bit leggy the last couple of games before he got injured. I don't think him being available would have changed yesterday's result; Norwich have more quality than us. The injured players like Travis and Dack can't come back soon enough as the games are relentless in this league and seems to be taking their toll. I'm sure Mowbray is looking forward to having BB back though and he will go straight back into the side, hopefully refreshed after his lay off.

Seems Norwich's injury list has disappeared recently and yesterday Farke said it was great to have a full squad available for the match.
Just as an aside whilst we wait for Trav and Dack to return in the next few weeks, if we actually wanted to buy them in the next window we would surely never afford be able to afford them would we?

Yes Eeore is not in the same class.
BB and 'class' in the footballing sense don't belong in the same sentence Al. I agree with steve above.

This season I have seen improvement in both Gallagher and Brereton to be fair but no one can deny that they needed to improve and massively. In fact they both have a long way to go to justify their cost.
imo I have Gallagher in front of Ben.
