So that would be £8million down the Swanee inside 4 years. As I've thought for many years transfer fees are for the history books. I just can't understand why it's taken the game so long to cotton on to the full ramifications of FOC.

That's why there should always be a fee.

Like my grandma used to say, it’s all bollocks isn’t it?

Why would BBD go to a dumb team like Everton. He will be playing against us next season when the Toffees get relegated.

If he is going we need to get shut of him asap in order that we can reinvest some of the transfer fee in a new boy. Does anyone* have any suggestions as to who we bring in?

* I have no sensible suggestions 😳

BBD has his own private box in the Blackburn End that he pays for his family. Today was the first time it was empty - it was stacked with chairs like a store room. Bye bye Ben; I just we hope we get a decent payday and that JDT has a share of it.

What a performance tonight. Love how in his sky interview Ben referred to us as Rovers and not Blackburn. He also said he is happy here.

Bugger, he’s going isn’t he.

He is going for sure at some point however “happy” he is at Rovers. There is more money down the road somewhere to get.
Still can’t believe his development at Rovers. He looked like a league 2 player for several season until some witch threw some spells on him in Chile. It’s remarkable I have to say.

I always saw the talent. Do not forget he’s still only 23!

Have to agree with some of the above posts about Brereton. He's had a decent season, and I think he'll improve, as he's still only 21. Mowbray clearly sees something in him and I suspect Mowbray sees it as a challenge to bring out Brereton's full potential. Let's not forget how frustrated we were with Armstrong when he was out on the wing, and not getting his head up, before Dack's injury. Brereton has all the physical attributes to get to the top, as he gets himself into great positions, but his composure often lets him down. That will click into place at some point and he'll be a bloody good 'un, I'll tell thee!
The potential was always there mind, as some of us (notably ODB) were saying, even before the emergence of The Diaz, when a few posters were labelling him as the 'Dumber' twin of Gallagher. Fair play to Brereton as well for not only showing up pre-transfer deadline, but putting in a shift, and not going AWOL and feigning injury, like some ex-Rovers have done recently. We have to keep him for the rest of season, to give us any chance of reaching the play-offs.

Bye bye Ben.

Nice way to sign off. A lot of players just idle about when they know they are going, but Diaz scored a great goal and put a shift in - emphasised by the way he tracked back to left back position in added time to put a sliding challenge in and stop the cross.

No free hospitality for me in Chile this UK winter though.

I'm not convinced he'll go personally. Venkys are nothing if not stubborn, so if £15m is their asking price then it'll have to be £15m and that's a big gamble for teams on a player who's only ever done the business for about 6 months in his whole career, when they could get him for half that in January or for free next summer. If it was cut and dried I don't think he'd have played last night.

If his time at Rovers has proven one thing it's not to write a player off too soon, not all signings/academy players will land running like a Haaland or a Wharton, with others it can take time. Vale's been written off by some after about 2 starts, Hedges last year was given lots of stick by some...... fan's can be far too reactionary these days, have patience.

Unlike some Rovers star players that have upped and left at the first chance in the past, I get the strong feeling that Brereton has genuine feeling for the club and how we've helped his development, so if he does go today there'll be no bad feeling's for me and I'd genuinely hope he'd be a success wherever he goes.

Rem ..... We need the money! We can't afford to pay him 15m plus wages this season, especially if he were to sign for Seville or similar in January for a personal signing on fee to him of a few million. If that were to happen he'd be next to useless from then on. The prospect of spewing even Fulham's 6m (plus negotiated add ons) is unthinkable. Unless somehow the Rovers could get the drop offs back (btw wont happen) 15m would be brilliant and could fund a few more wages in the squad and service the Academy at the same time.

Not sure what to think about Benji boy staying (till January at least).

From a business point of view it does not make too much sense, as we will get nothing for him soon enough and we do not appear to be a club that actually wants to get promoted to the money league so that cannot have been an influence.
Though obviously we could not have sold him for a knock down price - what is with these clubs thinking they can rip Rovers off? The offers that came in from the money bags clubs were stingy. He is better now than when we bought him for "big money".
We know what he has been (and can be like) watching week in week out for a few years - but a youtube highlights reel could say International Player at £20million. :p

Personally he did not ask for a move - which is good. Also I do not think he is a money grabber and does not need the money either - His Pepsi deal must have filled his pockets somewhat.
Rovers need to get him to sign a contract . . . though his agent might be the fly in the ointment.
