You'd sack him for getting further in the cup than 69 of the 71 other non-PL teams, and then losing 3-2 away to a last minute winner? Along with having us on for our best shot at the play-offs achieved by our 8 managers since relegation?

Well I suppose we are a massive club with a fanbase too big for the Championship, a squad littered with PL experience and transfer spending that dwarfs the rest of the league every season. Put one of the ballboys in charge and we'll be guaranteed promotion.
That was one of the most stupidness tactical decisions I’ve seen in watching football in 30 years.

Let’s hope the team can pull themselves together until next game versus Birmingham and win that one as It would be a nice comeback after this frustrating exit of the FA cup.

Thought every Rover was outstanding, worse performance on the pitch was the ref.Not a good thing for Sheff UTD, they will end up in the play offs.Morton runs out off energy at the 70 mins point, disappointed with the subs,JRC is class and should have been the last player to take off.I want to see Adam Wharton play every game till the end off the season. JDT is doing a great job took me a long time too warm to him ,but if he gets us in the play offs he will be off to a bigger club.

Very proud of the team today. They gave it everything and they must have been running on empty with all that pressing.
So unlucky when that Hedges shot rolled along the line.
I was very disappointed in the ref as he didnt give us anything that second half.
2 moments of quality won it at the end which showed up our weakness there with Gallagher not threatening at all.
This performance should give the team a real boost for the run in.
Special mention also for the 6,000 fans. Great support!

Well I don't see it personally. I assume you're going to tell me the obvious alternative JDT should have done, and I assume its going to be don't make any substitutions. Well frankly that's always the fans opinion, don't change it. As I say fans have no idea who's exhausted or carrying a knock and won't make the next track back, managers do and their job isn't to always be reactive and sit there until we concede. McBurnie had a very similar chance to the one he scored a few minutes before we made the subs and he shanked it into the pole holding the net up. That could have easily gone in the bottom corner like the goal did and then it'd be why hasn't JDT made any subs nearly 80 minutes into a 100mph energy-sapping game.

When JDT changed it against QPR, the guy he brought on scored. That's why you judge managers over the course of 2-3 seasons. Not on 1 set of subs in 1 game in 1 competition in 1 season.

There’s some truth to that I will agree but we switched the game at 81 mins against us. Utterly self destructive and now we have a harder job than a league game to pick the players up. Callum Britain fails to impress bar the odd game. Tired legs you may have a point given JRC seems to come off allot during games? That said Carter could have gone to RB and Wharton into CB if it was an enforced choice.

Hedges is the fittest player in the squad according to the stats. So why replace him with Wharton? It made no sense. Best form to attack as Sheffield had brought on Sharp was to hit them again. We almost did with schmozza at 2-1 when it was 3 on 3. From that moment with the subs we effectively cancelled that ever happening again and invited them on to us. It was hideous and shocking game management from a manger with allot of games under his belt already in various leagues. We lost valuable limited width in hedges and had no outlet down the right summer up by that punt bet brittain which went out of play.

When we went 2-2 it should have been a green light to put Dolan on. Instead we conceded again because there was no outlet and we began hurriedly clearing lines to absolutely no one and then the ball came straight back at us. Especially the correct sub to make with sheffields shape and use of subs already.

Morton was down with a “head injury”when he lost the ball for the 3rd so there might be a small argument if it should have got that far up the pitch but it did.

it’s deluded to think otherwise IMO

Maybe b&wh but the rovers performance dropped imo NOT with the personnel but because of the change in tactics. We were cruising when the change in system handed Sheff Utd the incentive, After that some shocking defending for the equaliser and the inability to hold the ball up in their half saw us off. A great match whatever anyone says with both teams contributing and the Rovers having the better of the chances. Unfortunately most key moments went against us.

Key moments:
A dreadful deflection for Sheffields first goal was just Lady Luck smiling on them.
A cracking header by Hyam which 3ft either way would have seen the keeper picking the ball out of the net.
A ridiculous double save by Foderingham from Gallagher to deny us a third.
Hedges shot spinning of the foot of the post and running along the line until the spin took over and guided it wrong side of the post.
Substitutions which with the benefit of hindsight wouldn't have been made.:(
McBirnie would have been subbed a minute later than when he scored.
A 'homer' referee who let lots of fouls on Rovers players go. Culminating in Morton apparently getting a finger nail in his eye (head injury) and with no move by the Ref to stop play.
A 'worldie' strike on 90 minutes from a player who was very nearly wearing blue and white halves today.

Despite the players playing their hearts out it wasn't to be but I am proud of their efforts all the same. Not just today in leading most of the time but in beating Brum away and playing Leicester off the park on their own ground. Unless I'm wrong the cup will end up in Manchester whether we beat SU today or not. I'm more concerned that with a little luck the club could have had another top payday.
The players would have dreamed of playing at Wembley and they will be massively disappointed even though holding semi finals there is a cheat and simply a licence to print money by the greedy bastards who run the English game. The way fwd for the lads is to man up, grit their teeth, gain confidence from their performance and use this experience to win the remaining matches and get promoted, and they need the support of the fans to do that...... and of course a little help from the fickle finger of fate.

Pears... 6 Chocolate wrist allowed Doyle's excellent strike in even though he got a full hand on it.

Rankin Costello... 7 Good match overall.

Carter.. 8 This lad has made himself undroppable.

Hyam...8 Solid performance to protect our goal and unfortunate to thump a header just too close to Foderingham.

Pickering ... 7 Good game and if the strikers had been on their marks he'd have a superb assist after knocking the ball across the 6 yard line.

Hedges.... 7 Good performance and so unlucky not to score when he rapped a shot against the inside of the post.

Travis... 8 Wore his heart on his sleeve today and covered every inch of the pitch.

Morton... 7 Some lovely play, top passes and determined defensive play until he visibly tired in the last 20 mins.

BBD.... 7 Kept Sheff Utd on their toes down the left and struck home a superb penalty.

Szmodics... 7 Was having one of his quieter matches although putting in plenty of effort throughout when Gallagher slipped a pass through the defence to leave him clear on goal and score.

Gallagher... 7 What a mixed day. Did some great stuff interspersed with some dreadful control and naive attacking. Desperately unlucky to score the OG.

Subs
Brittain... 5 (JRC 80 mins) Again wasn't up to speed with the game and looked leaden footed. Not strong enough in the challenge for McBirnie's equalising goal.

Wharton S... 5 Another who struggled to come to terms with the frenetic pace of the game.

Dolan .. N/A (Morton 93) No time to make an impact.

Garratt... N/A (Szmodics 93) Ditto

JDT... 5 Selected and sent out a confident and determined team. Unfortunately his substitutions and change of tactics in the final 10 mins cost us dear. He will be left to regret them for a long time no doubt. Everybody makes mistakes at times....... It's why they put rubbers on the end of pencils

Referee... Tim Robinson... 5 Contributed to the fantastic spectacle by letting play flow but seemed to have red and white specs on for the decisions that he did make. I generally like this chap in the middle but after a search and checking back to Brentford away I did comment that he appeared to be a 'homer'.

That’s pretty much my own summary. Dreadful subs relating to a change in tactics cost us. Im bemused BWH can’t see this but we’ve all got opinions on the game!

Well I just don't think its unusual to go defensive in the last 10 minutes when defending a 1 goal lead away from home against, over the course of the season, a stronger team. Its also very common for managers to counter an attacking opposition change (Sheff Utd bringing on a striker for a defender 10 mins earlier) with a defensive change.

One of the big criticisms of Mowbray was that we couldn't see out leads, and for me that's pretty much the only area JDT has improved us, but its been a big improvement and is a big reason we're 5th despite an incredible 14 losses. He was looking to see out this one in a game where Sheff Utd were continuing to create regular chances, so were we but I'd argue that a game like that can hardly be described as us being in control.

Fair enough it didn't work, sometimes its not going to. I just find the reaction to things like this incredibly harsh. Sack him at the end of the season? One of stupidest decisions you've ever seen in football? That's way over the top for me for a manager who's had a mid-table squad in the play-offs throughout the season.

When you look at Gareth Ainsworth's start at QPR, that's what we could have had instead of JDT, and its what we could have to replace him. I was a sceptic of JDT because I saw no reason to replace Mowbray, but he's doing a brilliant job IMO and deserves every credit just for getting us to the last 8 in the competition, further than 80% of PL teams and 96% of non-PL teams.

Fulham press the self destruct button at ot as Willian is sent off for handball, mitrovic for arguing and silva for whatever. If that incident was a sending off then how come sheff utd weren't down to 10?😵💫

I was proud of the Rovers players today.

Our fans were also fantastic and hopefully looked and sounded great on the telly.

Just shows var and refs are a big problem ,foolham outplay UTD ,a player handballs on the line,he is giving a red. In our game the player gets a yellow,ok he ain't on the line but same offence, then he commits a foul straight yellow 99/100 and the ref ignores it. and they football is not corrupt.

Having seen who Sheffield have got in the semis I’m now not bothered!

William handball and a red card, the Sheffield player handball and a yellow. Work that out.

It might to have with some rule that Willian is counted as last man when he get the red card but I’m not sure. A yellow and penalty should have been enough but they were playing against…

Nooooo don’t think so. Like you say they were playing against the side that’s been drawn at home every round!

Come on City.

No but if I was Gregg Broughton he’d been in my office at 8 am
Explaining that decision he made which effectively cost us the game. I like JDT and the league is our bread and butter and that’s what he will be judged in but if he went in the summer to another job I’m not sure I’d be devastated etc like Hughes or whoever leaving in the past.
