Allardyce may not have been perfect ODB but he was virtually tailor made to be the perfect Manager for a small town club of limited finances in the Premier League.

You'd best write to the venkys to thank and congratulate them then ODB. :p Like Cloughie, Dyche, Ranieri etc etc and even Alf Ramsey though he will still get sacked after a bad run though... they all do.

Do you genuinely believe that any form of congratulations would be near the top of the contents of a letter to that lot?

No.... but you might consider it. They've kept your idol and lost a packet in the process. Even willing to offer him double anyone else (which I really hope they retract). They are continuing to support and fund the only Category A Academy outside the Premier League which is paying massive dividends, and is the only reason that the Rovers have been consistently in the promotion shake up in recent years given our bottom six level income.
The venkys goofed up big time when they came at first and took advice from a cockney spiv, it cost us our precious place in the Prem but since Bowyer came in they've proved excellent owners.

I agree. The first few years with Venkys was the most damaging period in the club's history. But for me the real villain was Jerome Anderson, Venkys were just the gullible sap who got duped.

However since Anderson and his contemptible lackeys like Kean have been shown the boot, Venkys have done all that could be realistically asked of them and arguably more. As Drog says, they've been very good owners in recent years, keeping their gobs shut, the academy open, the upper management structure professional to the extent that our last 2 managers have been very good appointments, and generally funding our current status knocking on the door of the play-offs, which would be out of our reach in the natural order of things (on club income, we're a big League 1 club or a small Championship club).

The level of complicity in the destruction of Blackburn Rovers by the venkys will possibly never be revealed. What I would like to point out yet again is who appointed Owen Coyle? I do not believe that agent involvement in the ownership of the club is over. This would also explain why they are reluctant to sell the club as I do not believe that they own it 100%. As far as I’m concerned I hope their failed plan/stupidity/ignorance continues to hit them in the pocket hard. There are other potential wealthy owners waiting in the wings for when they finally sort everything out and bugger off, that’s if they have the power to do it. I also refuse to join the apologists crowd who think they have been great owners since, not for me thanks, Quisling I’m not.
Never forgive, never forget. If you need a reminder of what they have done to our beloved club then look at that league table and who will certainly be back in the premier league next year becoming more established all the time.
The venkys have assisted in the inbreds recent dominance over us.

So the venkys are secret Burnley supporters? How can they affect Burnley's fortunes? Burnley's recent run in the Prem is down to previous good management and a good Manager... in fact it's looking like two good managers and the parachute system.
Apart from that there is a lot of ifs and buts in there ODB without much actual substance.

I hate to say it but Burnley are pulling off a minor miracle at the moment in edging into the yo-yo club category. Rovers and Burnley are small Championship/big League 1 clubs in terms of fanbase size and attendances. Burnley have done it on the back of a phenomenal manager in Dyche, and Venkys are the only reason we're up there in the mix. They consistently fund a wage bill that's about 1.5 times our overall revenue, thats insane from a business perspective.

No other owner in their right mind would buy us and do that unless they fancied an incredibly expensive toy that will lose them £10-20m per year for the questionable kudos of owning a 2nd tier football club. Or unless they wanted to strip the wage bill to half its current size and try to survive relegation to League 1 whilst breaking even on their investment.

It took the Walker Trust years to find a buyer when the club had £40m TV money per year coming in. With that TV money gone, there's always clowns who like to throw their hat in for 15 minutes of fame, but as a serious business acquisition we have no attraction whatsoever I'm afraid to say.

We were an established Premier League side when they took over just before the massive money explosion and b***ley would never have caught us up. You know exactly what I mean. The substance is there if you look.

You sure about that then?

Like I said the proof is in the pudding when the Walker Trust tried to sell us and we were a far, far more attractive prospect because we were on the TV money train. Even with that, all we got were a series of clowns and con-men, narrowly avoiding Ahsan Ali Syed who went on to nearly bankrupt Racing Santander.

I think It was the Trust's difficulty to sell us that led to them taking the risk of hiring a football agent to broker the sale. The Trust did find us a financially stable buyer, they did that much, but in every other respect Venkys were totally unsuitable.

I'm really not sure what gives you confidence we'd have potential buyers now. Without PL TV money, our revenue is peanuts. So there'd be 3 options for a new owner:

1. Keep us competitive in the Championship and lose £10m per season - i.e. what Venkys are doing.
2. Halve the wage bill to break even and try to stay up.
3. Throw about £60m at it to catch us up to the newly relegated parachute payment clubs, and pray we get promoted or it'll cost a fortune the next few seasons too with all the pricey contracts for newly signed players.

I assume your hope is we'll get a buyer who's up for option 3. I think that's phenomenally unlikely personally, like 1 in 10,000 unlikely.
