Boing Boing Baggies v Rovers: 30th October 2018

Barmitzvah Boy

Global winner of the 2021 Christmas Quiz 👊🤩🤩
I am getting some of these previews out early as I doubt they have t’internet wireless thingy out in Espana yet.

I have some good, and not so good, memories of going to the Boing Boing Stadium. I recall a match in the late 70’s / early 80’s where there was floor to roof netting between the Rovers fans and the Baggies lot, we were showered with coins for the whole game (I sellotaped some to my match programme as a souvenir) although I came home with a pocket full of small change. In more recent years I am proud to say I witnessed Keith Andrews scoring a goal!!! Does anyone else have that claim to fame?

I was messaged by my mate Barbie and she sent me a picture of the Barbie Bus that is going to the Boing Boing Stadium - Ewood Blues beware!!

You may not be aware but Barbie has her very own private boudoir at the rear complete with her toys.....

You may ask why are they called Boing Boing Baggies? I shall explain. They club have a number of famous fans. One is Barbara Windsor hence, for obvious reasons, the Boing Boing reference; another is the local MP and Labour Deputy Dawg Tom Watson who is pictured below in his new slimline self holding a copy of Mao’s Little Red Book on how to destroy a country:

As for the Baggies bit it is after the craze of baggy pants much loved by the local population of the Black Country (modelled by a spiced up duffer from Dudley).

The biggest claim to fame for West Brumwich is that the World famous ex-Rover Simon Garfunkel played
for them between 1992 - 1994 scoring 8 goals in 32 appearances. He was an instant hit and can be seen here alongside Noel Brotherston.

This will be a tough game for the Rovers. West Brom will come out all guns blazing and fired up for a win. I lot depends on whether we turn up or not. Given the state of the M6 there is a strong possibility we may not make it.

Fair play to the Baggies for pricing tickets at £20. This should help ensure a Rovers sell out of around 2,300 tickets. Even Alex Politzi is fired up for this game, she has even bought herself a new Rovers beanie hat:

For all you Kate Garraway lovers out there the bad news is that she is now dating Richie Smallwood as the following photograph illustrates, what poor taste.

No mention of Frank Skinner BB, felt sure he would feature, his description of his first sexual encounter is as funny as it gets

And Adrian Childs.

Gut feeling we would lose at Swansea, so didn't post a prediction. Think we might just nick a draw at the Hawthorns. We've bounced back after disappointments so far this season so quite hopeful.

Highest scorers in the Division by a country mile with an av of 2.5 goals per game over the last half dozen matches doesn't bode well for us prob without Lenihan. However well capable of leaking a few too. Soooo that'll be a 0-0 then eh?

Tough fixture for them tonight up against Derby Co who won a difficult game against Sheff utd last weekend and appear to be in a bit of form at the moment. Surprising defeat for WBA at Wigan on Sat will probably see them come out all guns blazing tonight and if they win they might involuntarily relax on Sat.

3-1 but I may change depending on tonight's result and the verdict on Lenihan.

Currently 0-2 down to Derby Co. If they lose tonight that's two on the spin and we might be facing a firestorm on Sat.

WBA 1 - Derby 4.
Two defeats running now. Coming on the back of defeat in a bruising battle with Wigan at the DW (we know all about Wigan's expertise in the dark arts when required) I've a feeling Saturday just got a touch harder.
I presume Livermore will be back after picking up two yellows at Wigan and being suspended against Derby but on the plus side it seems like joint top scorer Dwight Gayle could be out injured.

I don't go with all this 'we'll face a backlash' stuff apart from: I think The Baggies will face a backlash following our defeat at Swansea and a piss poor second half display.

We'll come out all guns blazing at The Hawthorns, high tempo, pressing high up the pitch and go in at halftime 2 up. What comes second half Rovers?..................................

Frequently works that way though darrenrover. Playing in Cup competitions being fine examples. Great giant killing result in europe / fa cup usually leads to a slump in form for one team and added incentive for the other the game after, with the reverse situation applying too.
What we have here though is two teams smarting after poor results.

Should make for a brilliant afternoon's entertainment Gordon, after having lunch with Kate first!
Oh, 3-2 Rovers win by the way!
