Warnock changed in his interview from 1/4inch to 1mm from his eye. Does he not realise there is 5mm difference? A bloke of his age should be using imperial only not that fancy dan European metric nonsense.
I don't believe either distance Warnock quotes - as the player is walking off - neither eye is covered - just his cheekbone

So in what turned out to be the epitomy of the definition of 'football's a game of two halves' the Rovers, after being on the back foot for most of the first half turned the tables 15 minutes into the second half in one blistering attack in what was another lighting strike to follow the recent ones against Brum and the wrongly disallowed one against Stoke City. No warning of what was to come but so devastating was the interchange of passes that involved Nyambe-Elliott-Armstrong and Elliot again who passed the ball square to the penalty spot where it was met by Joe Rothwell (just in front of Lewis Travis) to calmly slot the ball past Bettinelli in the Boro goal, that there was no Boro defender within 5 yards. 63 mins and it was an almost unforeseen 0-1. From then on and I believe this is what led to Warnock's apoplectic rage after the final whistle, Boro virtually laid down and died. The Rovers were well and truly on the front foot and could easily have ended the match 0-3 victors but from some rather wasteful finishing and an excellent save by Bettinelli from Adam Armstrong in a last ditch one on one situation. Three goals in that last 30 minutes would have flattered the Rovers but it needs to be borne in mind that no visiting team has managed to score more than one goal at the Riverside this season!

Kaminsky... 7 Made some excellent saves in the first hour to keep Boro out. Played his usual part in building from the back and providing a safe option for back passes.

Nyambe... 6 Not able to maraud down the wing as much as normal as he and Watmore were busy cancelling each other out.

Lenihan...8 Had some below par performances of late but played a big part against the intimidation and physicality of Assombalonga.

Branthwaite... 7 Ok so on another day he might have been sent off but that would have been harsh as his connection with Fry's cheekbone was 'one of those things' and in no way intentional. This lad however in no way looks to me to be just 18 years old! Looking like he's played alongside Lenihan for years. Did lapse twice as he lost his man at two corner kicks but that was the only sign that he still has 'L' plates on at this level. Two games and just 1 conceded aint bad is it?

Douglas... 7 Not a wonderful performance but he does seem to be getting more up to speed every week. Should have scored with what should have been a routine finish but instead blazed his close range shot over the bar to make sure we had a nervous wait for the final whistle.

Johnson... Made a strong start but seemed to tweak a hammy in a collision and had to come off on 10 mins.

Davenport... 6 Not really a stand out performance but how much did his place in the starting line up contribute to our Boro lock out? Harshky booked in the first half and was on thin ice until he was replaced by Tom Trybull late in the game.

Travis.... 6 Not the Travis of old as yet after his injury but is looking fitter and was involved right to the last minute. Up against a difficult and old adversary in Sam Morsy. I have to say he must have breathed a sigh of relief when Warnock substituted Morsy on 72 mins. If Colin wants to know why Boro faded so much after the goal he might ponder his own contribution with the removal of never-say-die Morsy from the fray.

Rothwell... 6 Strangely subdued in that first half. Personally I'd like to see him play in front of the midfield four in a roving role to provide an out for the defence by collecting the ball and carrying it forward. Scored the winner with a confident finish.

Elliot....6 Another who contributed little until he came alive to play a wonderful give and get with Armstrong to put Rothwell's goal on a plate.

Armstrong... 7 A tireless outlet for the team whose reputation I feel distracts opposing defenders and creates space for his teammates. Starved of service for the first half. Should have scored one and could have had a hat trick on another day. Played a big part in the move that lead to the goal.

Subs

Buckley (Johnson 10 mins) 5 Came on to replace Johnson on 10 but unfortunately is not the same type of midfield player and might have disrupted the match plans. Suffered the ignominy of a sub being subbed to make way for Bradley Dack on 65 minutes.

Dack (Buckley) 6 "He has got that instinctive vision and played a couple of sublime passes - cant wait for him to get 100% match fit".

Gallagher (Rothwell 65 ) 6 Does bring some much needed physicality to the proceedings. His size and strength makes him a handful for defenders who have been facing our lightweight attack for most of the game.

Brereton (Elliott 65) 6 Last of the triple subs. Put himself about with little effect but the performance of the team after the substitutions cannot be faulted.

Trybull (Davenport 86) Came on to see the time out.

Mowbray... 6 Difficult to put a score on TM. He's had a tough time recently with growing fan criticism. Sent out what should have been a team with a defensively strong midfield only for (yet another) injury to disrupt his plans and push the team onto the back foot for the first half. Preparing a triple sub when a lovely move figuring two of his intended substitutes combine to assist and score the winner! I would have delayed the changes there and then until the game settled a little (I think it might have been Cloughie who said the most dangerous time in a game is just after you have scored) but TM carried on and fair play the team didn't suffer one bit and in fact strengthened their grip on the game. Must have enjoyed seeing Warnock fuming and putting one over on his old club.

Referee Dean Whitestone...6 Although I doubt Colin would be quite so generous! A harsh booking for Davenport was levelled up by his handling of the Fry injury. Did he perhaps lean a little more to Boro after half time? Possibly but then I am more than a little biased myself. Third time we've had Mr Whitestone this season and after defeats by Swansea and Norwich it's the first time that we have won a match.

Ooops I forgot Bradley! Watching telly at the same time and mentioning him Buckley's bit. Anyway I agree with your assessment. He did play some lovely passes.

It was a penalty. It is covered by 'careless' in the rules.

The fact it occurred milliseconds after the ball was headed is irrelevant.

VAR would have given a penalty and probably a red.

Fry had got the header away and we see countless last ditch fouls not given once the attacker has taken his shot.
Brathwaite will be a big lad when he grows into those feet won't he Robin! :D
Tony agrees, he need some muscles 😄

So Trav ran all that way and the Boro defenders couldn't be arsed to track back 5 yards!

I don't want to be pedantic but VAR can't give anything. Any decision can only be made by the Ref.

It was to some degree an undeserved win but made SOOOOO sweet by seeing Warnock's face. He really is so easy to hate. :p

Maybe undeserved over the 90 mins perhaps Al but we scored a goal that must mightily embarrass everyone in the Boro camp. Boro claim to have a mean defence but two players stood all alone on the penalty spot, both onside with acres of space around them (glad Joe was first up cos Trav might have blazed at it and missed:p) should never happen at any level never mind in the Championship. Plus after they'd had the stuffing knocked out of them with the goal they offered nowt in the way of a come back. OK so it was a relief for us when the final whistle blew but in truth we could have walked off 1-3 winners. Boro fans and Colin can moan all they like about the incident but if they need to rely on a sending off every week to win a match and possibly make the play offs it just aint going to happen is it?

Spot on! He should think a bit how his team acted after the injury and especially after our goal. It almost looked like they had no idea what to do.

Watching our goal again it would not have been scored at Ewood with the state of the pitch, our Pitch seems to suit the away teams, pity we can not afford a relay but that's life.

Who is Colin? The Boro manager is Neil Warnock.

Warnock was christened 'Colin' after Colin Wanker (anag) by Sheff Wed fans when he was Manager at Sheff United. Suits him down to the ground too. Crikey Al you must be the only football supporter in the land who hasn't heard that tale. Anyway you have now. ;)
