I was pre covid working in Norwich and it coincided with rovers under 23 playing Norwich. I ended up sat with the parents and they hated Mowbrays attitude to the academy and his desperation to close it.
Make of that what you will but he was not the instigator of a production line the academy survived despite of him not because of him. That’s direct from the parents of players at the academy
I have seen many Rovers u23’s and more recently the conversion to u21’s. It was rare for TM to turn up which I found strange given they are our ‘production line’. What I do like about JDT is that he is at games when ever possible and even more so his willingness to play young players in the 1st team and also take them along to away games with the more experienced players.

Well I don't call our April record under JDT of 8 points from a possible 27 promotion serious form steve. Remember too that 3 of those came in the last exhilerating match at Millwall otherwise it would have been 5 points from a possible 24! I've no idea where that last 45 minutes came from because we had been so bad for the previous weeks. We fell off a similar cliff to previous seasons but just a few weeks later.
The 7-0 home defeat did it for me as far as TM was concerned, not even the hint of an apology.

Them we had the half time player revolt after he played Bradley Johnson as CF; they told him to,”sit down, shut up and leave it to us”; Rovers won that game in the 2nd half and TM spent the whole of the 2nd half sat in his seat like a dormouse. He should have been potted earlier but the V’s went for the cheap, zero compensation option of not renewing his contract.

Not sure why he should apologise for being thrashed by the team who won the league and scored 106 goals. Fulham beat Huddersfield 5-1 away, Reading 7-0 away, Bristol City 6-2 at home, Birmingham 6-2 at home, Swansea 5-1 away and Luton 7-0 at home that season. And straight after that game we won 8 and drew 2 of the next 10, what's a meaningless apology measured against probably our best run in the Championship since 2000/2001?

And its very obvious what it all comes back to anyway, wages. Fulham's wages that season were £90.4m compared to ours at £24.4m. Our wages are those of a bottom half club, and you should finish where your wages indicate. If I have 3.5 times as much to spend on a race car as someone else, mine should win the race. Rovers fans seem to think that a great history helps our race car go faster, obviously it doesn't.

So Mowbray overachieved and JDT is overachieving, its as simple as that for me.

Serious question
Were you on Ewood that night?
I certainly get why BB reached a turning point - it was a disgrace, and for him not to apologise on behalf of the club was unforgivable
His determination to stick with a team set up that clearly wasnt working, and not even try a different approach, was also unforgivable when everyone at Ewood could see we needed changes
The less said about the Derby debacle the better - thank god there was a mutiny

All that said, overall, I agree we do overachieve, but TMs day was done and even though it saddens me I agree Brad needed moving on - especially with the way JDT seems to want to play

No but only because I pretty much can't tolerate the fan negativity at Ewood now. Thrashing teams and getting thrashed by teams is part of football. When we were the fat cats in the 90s we regularly did it to teams, Fulham are the fattest cats ever in this division and they did it to us.

I remember us beating Sheff Wednesday 7-2 and their fans spending the entire second half singing the great escape and doing a conga round the Darwen End. How times have changed.

Getting thrashed in one game is absolutely meaningless in my opinion when you pick up 26 points of the next 30 and go from mid-table to 2nd.

Just like getting thrashed at Old Trafford was meaningless compared to Big Sam keeping us as a solid mid-table club. Putting far too much stock in the odd thrashing has cost this club very dear.

Well it was a disgrace, a total capitulation and as said before...........
Not once did TM show the slightest remorse - which was a total affront to us poor suckers that had to witness it

Oh and then from 2nd and almost certain play offs (automatic even) to 8th without so much as a wimper (or battle cry, change of plan, tactics or personnel)

The only way to change the atmosphere in Ewood - is to be there and contribute - I get that our level of expectation is unrealistic and based on the walker years but if you go back to the 70s - we had no expectations.......just hope.....and undying loyalty

The 7-0 thrashing wasn’t meaningless though as it was our record home defeat. Even if Van Hecke hadn’t been sent off I reckon they’d have beaten us 3-0.

Amen to that. I'd take 26 out of 30 all day long! Every club has a bad day at the office sometimes.

That 7-0 defeat to Fulham was a game I saw at Ewood on one of my excursions back to my roots from Cornwall. It was one of my worst experiences at Ewood. However I stayed to watch the next match v Sheffield United and what a transformation! The crowd responded and the team did brilliantly to win 3-1. I think Tony Mowbray deserved huge praise for the way the team played that day.

If we felt gutted after the Fulham debacle I doubt it was as bad as Mowbray felt.

0-0 away to Coventry, an improvement I suppose. How long has TM got though?

Sunderland fans must be the championship Everton fans. TM got them to the play offs, what more do they want.Look at Boro i bet there isnt a big uproar over Carrick.
