Apparently TM went to Pune after Tuesday's meeting and will return over the weekend. He has 3 budgets in his mind depending on what the owners allow him to spend and with that in mind the club have procured the wages of all the Championship clubs for the venkys to use as a yardstick. Bottom of the pile is Burton with a wage bill of approx 7m and top is Villa whose wages amount to a massive 57m.
Mowbray's record over his career (and also what happened the season after he promoted West Brom) concerns me, but he does have that magic formula of being a very nice guy and a halfway decent manager.

Venkys seem to demand nice managers who will always use "Madame" to address Mrs Desai, tolerate their bizzare high-level appointments and be the very definition of humble in all communications with them. I think thats largely why we've ended up with Kean, Berg, Appleton, Bowyer and Coyle instead of the likes of Allardyce, Pearson, Davies or Warnock.

Mowbray might just be the man to get something done over in India.

Hmmm. Chatting last night to someone with connections at the club and he revealed that no one either considered nor recommended Owen Coyle but that the order to employ him came directly from Pune! How had those buggers even heard of him? My conspiracy theory is that there may have been a favour returned to a certain member of the press (and at that time BRFCS) who swerved from scathingly opposing their involvement to quietly supporting them and actually referred to Kean as "a gem of a manager" over just a few days of Christmas 2010.

Moving on it seems that that Mowbray is well liked and well thought of by the Ewood heirarchy. Just a few niggles with one or two of his signings, Caddis in particular who is on significant money but can't be bothered to even get himself fit.

And then we have Newcastle United...

Just another snippet..... Mowbray has been advised at this end to 'go for it', to be bold and ask for more than he thinks they will give. The basis being that if you don't ask you don't get.
