Don't agree. Sounds to me like he would only regard us as a stepping stone anyway. Don't need that type of player.
In fairness thats what 90% of them are like Al. They are professional players and unless he's actually a 'proper' Rovers fan why shouldn't he? It's the nature of football and happens at every club except perhaps Real madrid. Even arsenal are losing Sanchez, Liverpool Coutinho, Spurs are worried shitless that Real will come tapping Kane. It is what it is. To use us as a stepping stone to a higher level he need's to come here and play to the best of his ability, whereupon with astute management we'll move him on at a profit and have a valid replacement lined up. It's the buggers who come to take a wage and give nowt back like that bugger on the other thread Stokes, Goodwillie, Murphy, Grella, Orr et al (and God knows we've had more than our share of them) that I despise most.

Every professional player going regards us and any other club outside the premier league top 6 as a stepping stone. They wouldn’t have made it as professionals if they were happy to reach a level and then stop. If they were, why stop at the 3rd tier of English football, why not the 4th, 10th, 15th, 2nd? And why would we want players who want to join us, put their feet up and not get any better.

Do you honestly think Dack is playing out of his skin this season so he can hang around the bottom half/mid-table of the Championship with us after we get promoted. I don’t, he’s playing well to get a move, just like Coutinho at Liverpool and just like any player who’s got the ability. There’s nothing special about Rovers and there’s no reason a player should think Fleetwood is a stepping stone yet we’re the promised land.

I'll admit to pinching this but it amused me.
If you seem like the type to believe your own hype.
That's Amari'i,
If you think you're to good to come to Ewood,
That's Amari'i

It's been suggested that if he turns out for Fleetwood against us we should sing that.:grinning:

I prefer to think that Dack is playing well because he is enjoying his football. You can be too cynical (and inventive) at times Drog.
As I said if Amari'i thinks he's too good for us, fuck him. We can get along without him!

Many see the top six of the Premier League as a stepping stone to the top two in Spain. Ronaldo , Coutinho , Bale and probably Kane , plus many before them. . There is no loyalty in professional football. I once heard an interview with Tom Finney , who was seen as the epitome of loyalty , and he said he'd have jumped at the chance of a move to one of the Milan clubs ( who were showing interest) but his Chairman put a stop to it .

I've a feeling Dack would go tomorrow Al , if the right club offering him the right terms came sniffing around - and Mrs Desai sanctioned it

You are probably right but I think the main thing in his mind at the moment is that he wants to be part of a promotion winning team. After that he can think about the future. Maybe he would be happy with Rovers in the Championship. We are a club with a good history and maybe now with some new ambition.

You would hope so, but money talks. With this Bell guy I'm not bothered if he comes or not but if he does and plays fantastic and we get promoted then he gets sold for a big profit (pushing a move) is that not a good thing?

Like above it is the wasters we need to avoid not the ambitious ones.

Might be wrong but I had it down as Genoa. (EDIT Sorry quite wrong it was Palermo.) He was on £1250.00 pa at North End and Genoa offered him 10k pa! An absolute fortune for a footballer back then. He asked the Chairman if he could leave, the Chairman said "No you can't Tom. We need you here" and that was that. Much different back then wasn't it?
Sir Tom admitted that on TV in the late 80's much to the chagrin of both my mother (north ender) and my Father (Rover but who used to go to Deepdale every other week when the Rovers were away simply to watch Finney) who had Finney down as some latter day saint.

He's one who certainly hasn't lived up to expectations in all his career. MU to Lpool to BRFC to Rochdale:(

Perhaps Steve Kean might describe Hart as he described Myles Anderson:poop: ..... a 'late developer!
To quote the little shit..... “We feel that Miles Anderson is a player with great potential as a late developer. He could become something of a Chris Smalling, who came through late in football and Myles has done the same.  :p

P.S. Just checked and Miles is on Torquay's books but as usual can't get into the squad and has yet again been loaned out to a club lower down the pecking order... this time it's the mighty Chester.

I noticed Kean has slithered out of DPMM without even the grace to get officially sacked and have some of his adoring British press write a puzzled article about it. He really is Mr. Teflon and unfortunately I doubt we'll have the satisfaction of ever seeing him ruin some other British club. His next job will probably be in the Maldives top flight where he'll get saved from relegation by the island sinking.
