One for the venkys to ponder as they reflect on their tenure at BRFC.
They say "History repeats itself." Well it has to, because nobody ever listens!

No prizes for guessing which member this might best apply to.

Indeed so. I'm just reading all this bollox about Corbyn abolishing university tuition fees etc. We can't afford it can we? Whenever are they going to realise that university (or further education after the age of 18) is only required by less than 50% of school leavers? Courses for the likes of media studies and party planning is just a waste of time, resource and money. Especially when we are told that not enough kids want to do more valuable career related courses. That is where the money is wasted and should be the first port of call in improving the lot of kids with an IQ in the top 40% in the future. Any silly socialist argument to streamlining the way for the clever kids can be answered when one considers football academies where no kid with two left feet or who cannot trap a wet sandbag will ever get close to being accepted.

When our children are listed as 27th in the world for Mathematical skills it tells me that education in this country needs a massive shake up. Standards have slipped massively as is always the case when a populations bellies are full. Odd that teachers unions are so against govt plans to impose compulsory times tables again! Surely any conscientious teacher would want to equip her children with that basic but invaluable skill wouldn't they? As with all things (NHS included) just chucking good money after bad will not solve the issues. Simply bin off the rebellious kids from disrupting our schools, bin off the wimpy socialist teachers, install discipline and lets get back to the basics. Post brexit it's sure to stand us in good stead.

There does seem to be pennys dropping as can be seen from these two opinions from opposing sides of the great divide .....

“Rejoice, The Prime Minister has got something important absolutely right.” It’s high time someone challenged the idea that every school leaver should aspire to go to university. The reality is that many of our “centres of learning” are little more than snake-oil merchants, selling worthless degrees to people who are attending university only because they feel they ought to. The state is cheating a lot of individuals by encouraging them to waste their time in this way. As the billionaire philanthropist and former mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg recently said to me: “The economic future of the average plumber is going to be brighter than that of the average college graduate.”
Max Hastings Daily Mail.

"May is at least asking some of the right questions, We need what she called a “parity of esteem” between academic and vocational education. The best way to achieve it would be to introduce a cap on student numbers, along with quotas to ensure people from disadvantaged backgrounds are fairly represented at universities. That “would result in more middle-class students who don’t make the cut going down the non university route”, which would tackle “cultural snobbishness” and direct more funding into vocational education.
Sonia Sodha / The Guardian.

Quite a pertinent comment given the passing away of Stephen Hawkins last week.

"When you have lost your inns, drown your empty selves, for you will have lost the last of England"

Time to start making a stand methinks, the snowflakes and elites need educating in what being English and therefore winning the lottery of life really means, I for one will never be an apologist for what my ancestors gave to the world, good and bad.
