The referee and his assistant had a nightmare here. Our goal should have stood. I saw the replay, and don't understand why. This Wilson 'keeper is a curse on Rovers for some bizarre reason.
Wahlstedt
Didn't have a great deal to do, but did well on the things he needed to. Don't think he can be faulted for Coventry's goal when Hill was asleep for the rebound. Made a smart save in the first half by palming it to his side rather than back out to the middle. A bit more confident about him than I was after seeing him against Leicester City.
Hill
He should have reacted quicker to Coventry's winner after the ball rebounded off the bar. That was a critical error in my view. He was otherwise excellent. The type of defender we need. Solid in defence, a big unit, and very handy at driving forward. Very unlucky not to score with a rasping drive in the first half that hit the underside of the bar ('keeper got a great touch on it). I noticed his yellow card was only given after the weak referee noticed the Coventry player's reaction after the foul. Unfair.
Carter
Solid. Nothing of note one way or the other.
Hyam
Better than he has been, but still feels lacking.
Brittain
Another excellent game. I would say Man of the Match. Defending brilliantly and was everywhere going forward. Has definitely usurped Rankin-Costello from that spot.
Rankin-Costello
A decent performance, I think, but can't remember too much from him.
A Wharton
One of his better games this season before being substituted with an injury. Passed the ball very neatly and never lost posession, which I think is the first time I can say that.
Szmodics
Was everywhere. Should have scored in the first-half when he perhaps could have taken a touch to get better position on the ball. These are the things that work against us later in the game. Played some good balls into the box where an instinctive striker would have bagged a goal or two. He is turning out to be a quality signing for this club.
Moran
Played well. Some decent attacking play, but also lost the ball too easily on occasion. I saw the replay of his disallowed goal and didn't see a foul on their 'keeper. Shambolic refereeing to disallow a goal a minute after it's given, especially since there is no VAR.
Markanday
A danger going forward, and I noticed his defending has improved markedly. A good game from him.
Dolan
His best game for a while. Seems to have a bit of confidence about him, but he is still somewhat reluctant to take players on. I can't remember the last time he did it. Somehow, even after playing well, he is largely ineffective.
As for the subs...
Sigurdsson
Should have opened the scoring, but instead made a weak shot straight at the 'keeper when clean through. He clearly gets into the right positions, but is still a bit rusty.
Travis
Has become very good with the ball at his feet. Played himself nicely out of a tight spot or two. That's about all.
Tronstad
Quality control and passing. Played Sigurdsson through. I would like to see him come into the starting XI and perhaps add some more control and steel in the midfield.

Well, it's yucky to be where we are in the league. I saw huge improvements tonight in spite of the defeat. It's not necessarily our performance, rather our lack of ability in front of goal. When Szmodics drops deep and starts getting involved there, our goal threat is almost non-existent. We need our strikers fit to start making the difference. On to QPR...
