I agree with those saying the ESL is just the next stage in the way football is unfortunately going, rather than some kind of alien atrocity.

Used to play at the (now shut down sadly) soccerdome in Blackburn at 7pm so when I arrived I'd see the end of a lot of kids games that started at 6. Almost all the kids were wearing the shirts of these ESL teams.

The slow poison of gloryhunters has been killing every club outside the big 6 for decades now. In the end, the only way to stop it is the American franchise system and maybe a draft, which makes every club a big club.

I've written to Perez saying that if any of them want to pull out we'll be happy to replace them.:grinning:

I've not had a reply yet.........:pensive:

“On Friday, nine of the 12 participating clubs agreed a peace deal with UEFA and accepted fines worth millions of pounds for their roles in the scheme”

They've kept that quiet, I wonder how much the fines were?

Plus where will the money go and what uefa will do If they don't pay up?

I believe the Prem is skating on thin ice. There has to be a point at which these punishments will drive the clubs away and it'll be back on the agenda. Let's be honest what will the Prem do if they simply refuse to pay up? We all assume these fines will be a drop in a bucket for the 'Big' clubs but the ridiculous fact of the matter is that these clubs have incurred the biggest debts for themselves! It's a crazy business.

Points deductions or automatic relegation. To be honest I'd rather those clubs were out of the English leagues anyway. It would be far more competitive.

Seems MU got beaten last night on penalties. tbh I'd no idea they were even playing. Poor old Marcus Rashford bleating away as usual about being racially abused on social media. I very much doubt he's reading this but just on the off chance........... Toughen up lad! It isn't nice but you wouldn't get that crap if you were not earning about a million pounds per month and after setting yourself up to be a latter day saint in the public spotlight. That teacher will take 4 or 5 years to earn what you get in a week! Oh and just a word of advice.... stay off social media.;)

Nothing if not predictable .......... Should have been at Villa park of course but the powers that be don't care about the environment, policing UK hooligans etc just so long as the money rolls in.
Manchester City and Chelsea fans involved in violent clashes with Porto police and each other | Daily Mail Online

I must say any victims of violence from either club fully deserve their situation by stupidly electing to go to the match and not watching on TV or a Big Screen somewhere. I wouldn't have gone to Porto for a gold clock although I hope to in the future.
The best way to cure this imo is for UEFA to pay the same security firm that policed us in Krakow when we played Wizla. I'm not small and I'm not soft but anybody that takes that lot on must be crazy. There would be casualties of course, many serious b ut maybe that's what it takes.

There’s no excuse for racism though.
I can’t stand the team Marcus Rashford plays for and disagree with his political leanings , but absolutely no excuse for the vile racist abuse he’s recently received on social media. I’m sure we’d all be horrified if Tyrhys Dolan , Ryan Nyambe or Lennie Cirino were victims of that sort of stuff .

If I was Rashford I’d stay off social media. However if he wants to , he should be able to to go on there without being called a monkey , a **** , a ****** and all the other crap .

Back to United , delighted they got beat . Well done Villarreal

Exactly OOT. He won't change the mindset of the lower orders no matter what he or the FA, BLM or the BBC et al do so he may as well give up trying, pack in with social media and accept the situation. I'm sure more people admire him and /or hero worship him than call him anyway. I have to say as a life long ginge with freckles who burns and never tans that one learns to roll with the jibes etc as a kid and imo it toughens one up and becomes character building.
Be an interesting question for all the black players .... if you had your time again would you rather be a penniless white yobbo or rich and black?

I'm afraid Rashford and other protesters are doing themselves no good by constantly hitting the news. People have had enough of it and are reacting negatively. They may have got one or two black people high profile jobs but the general public are totally pissed off with it and it will eventually bite them in the arse.

It’s the televised media , the white chattering classes and the pseudo left wing intelligentsia who constantly bang on about taking the knee , white privilege and victim hood .

Below are the words of my favourite Headmistress , Katharine Birbalsingh , a black woman who set up an inner city school with old fashioned values based on discipline, traditional teaching methods and patriotism. Despite intimidation and violence from the hard and not so hard left ( they call themselves progressives ! ) she succeeded in creating an outstanding school . This was her message to the pupils who were leaving :

“ In my last assembly yesterday I told them don’t let anyone tell you that you are victims. Because of your skin colour, because you are from the inner city, because you went to a state school. Every time you fail, you pick yourselves up and KEEP ON GOING. “

Anyway back onto European football , not a great week for Manchester football . City lose too !

I think a betting man could have done very well by backing Villa Real and Chelsea.

Poor little beggar! The Spanish league have ruled that Barcelona's wages can't rise above 70% of their turnover and paying the 34 year old messi 65 million over the next 5 years would take them over that. So given that barca have made him as rich as Croesus why doesn't he reward the club and its supporters by playing for nowt? How about 1m pa even just to cover the cost of washing his kit and new boots etc?
Btw Barcelona are currently over 1 billion in debt!! Pure madness!

Ring him up Drog, maybe he'll come, and watch our crowd numbers soar, we'd have to rebuild the Riverside:laughing:
