Mowbray was asleep for a lot of the game.

I do mean actually sat down and asleep.

Is he unwell or did he OD on Lemon Drizzle? or are we so friggin boring that it sent a boring chump to sleep too.

In any event he is a waste of space and he and his chum SWAG are con-merchants.

We last won in the FA Cup under Coyle FFS

I’ve got the solution at last. I’m just going to pretend that yesterday didn’t happen and will do so each further time we serve up such an insipid gutless display just like yesterday. I believe there is a massive comfort zone down the road from me and apart from the obvious I don’t know what the answer is. I’m not going to resort in ranting about the manager as I suspect is happening in the negative website but Tony really needs to make some hard decisions now, not only with regard to players but also whether he feels he can change things or do something different.

Oh well, after 48 years of being a Rover I’ve got to accept the ups and the downs and treat each equally.

We are what we are I suppose and we could be in a worse situation.

Who cares? Not me that's for sure. From a glamour competition the FA Cup has now gone the same way as the old League Cup. Only a few can win it so it's just a waste of time and a diversion from the important events of the league for lower league teams. It may as well just be run for clubs in the Prem these days. We've had enough injuries this season we don't want any more, rem we lost our main man in midfield Trav for half a season in a pointless League Cup match.

All correct but especially the last bit.

Rich Sharpe from the LT being very critical for a change:

He was being critical. But it's nowt new, all been said on here for some time now. We don't have to toe the LT/BRFC line though do we?

One point he did make is that the Ewood pitch is looking a little worse for wear. I feel there are a number of reasons for this.
1.. The dreadfully wet season so far.
2. The notable change in colour being down to the frost. I don't know the way the undersoil heating works but I think it needs to be on all the time. It's forbiddingly expensive so can we afford this? If not then clearing snow and leaving the grass at the mercy of sharp frosts does make the grass dormant and unable to repair itself with new growth. Might sound daft but it might have been better to leave the snow as a protective blanket as an imminent thaw was forecast (and btw has arrived).
3. Worst of all I read in the press that the Rovers were training on Ewood last week because the Brockhall pitches were covered in snow. WTF is that about with such a fine indoor facility at Brockhall? Who makes these daft decisions?

For a Clubs finances a cup run and a draw against a big club in a televised game is important.

Or are we now somehow financially ok?

Ok only one club per season can win the Cup but trying to win any game is also a basic reason for playing the game, unless that's conveniently changed too.

More injuries happen in training than in matches. Fact.

Probably very true but the long term ones to our best players were incurred in playing matches. Dack, Trav for starters. I do feel a 'muscle strain' or a 'tweak' in training might sometimes be used as an excuse for a team change without putting public pressure on an individual's loss of form.

Unfortunately the FA Cup is now a joke of a competition and as well as the Premier League riches , to a certain extent I blame the influx of foreign managers for its downfall . Cup competitions in other countries have never had the cache that the FA Cup has in this country .

Gone are the days when fans ears were pressed to portable radios on a Monday lunchtime listening to the draw for the next round . I honestly couldn’t tell you when the draw is for the 4th round .

The BBC are bulling it up like it’s some top competition but how many clubs played their first choice teams yesterday. Chorley beat Derby , but wasn’t that Derby youth ? Doncaster beat a ‘Rovers squad’ , ‘Burnley ‘ scraped past MK Dons . Yes most of the Burnley players are non- entities , but I assumed they had even bigger non- entities playing yesterday . BBC showed Arsenal v Newcastle or was that Arsenal Reserves v Newcastle Reserves ?

So gone are the days of Colchester 3 Leeds 2, Hereford 2 Newcastle 1 , Burnley 0 Wimbledon 1 and others . Proper ‘giant’ killing .

It’s a shame that Rovers , a 6 times winner of what was the best cup competition in the world , got knocked out yesterday , but to be honest it’s no big deal . Yeah perhaps we missed out on a big draw but the chance of Man Utd Reserves in the next round ? No thanks .

In other Cup news Marine have sold over 17,000 virtual match day tickets at 10 quid each even though it's free on BBC 1.

The stadium at Marine has numbers on the fences that are on both sides of the pitch

They correspond to the numbers of the houses that back on to the pitch so they know what door to knock to get their ball back

I am glad that we did not play Chorley away.

In fairness to Derby it was their youth team (I wonder how close it was to the Derby U23's our lot beat about a week ago?). Apparently Covid cases amongst the main squad were the reason.

Reading the press it was a Doncaster SQUAD that beat a Rovers squad. They'd been hit with absentees too.

As I said before the match the way forward is to put out the 1st team, get a couple in front and then make the changes. Bloody weird to me how many managers never bloody learn even though they will know more about footy than I. It's a constant issue which comes up every cup competition.
Another way of looking at it is the negative psychology of it all. It fires up the opposition as it is effectively disrespecting them, whilst at the same time giving out a subliminal message to one's own squad that they'll only have to turn out to beat their opponents.

Donny had been hit with covid and had not played for yonks,I'm not to fussed about the cup,but if we don't take 4 PTS against Stoke and Swansea the season will be virtually over,we have to stop relying on other teams and step up to the plate.TM in my eyes needs to get a settled side and stop making so many subs.I know injuries are rife but our luck must change.

Crawley 2 Leeds 0 but lots of time left

I love the FA CUP**

** early rounds

Man C and Chelsea showing respect to the Cup and playing strong teams, mind you the each have 50+ Internationals on their books but at least they haven't put the U17s out.
