We need an anthem at Ewood.
However I did hear on the grapevine that when fans are allowed in anyone caught singing or shouting will be warned. A 2nd offence will result in a ban and a compulsory visit to Pune. A 3rd offence and you will be forced to be a Moderator on the ‘dark side’ messageboard.

But if the government is ruling that clubs can't allow their customers into their premises, they should provide recompense.
How the club uses that money is up to them.
We can't have a couple of thousand fans in a 30,000 seater stadium but we can have towns and cities chock full of people at 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights when the pubs all empty at the same time.
There's a complete lack of joined-up thinking going on at the moment.

Amen to that.

However baling out clubs who are paying that amount of money would be political suicide. The press / media would have a field day! I can see the headlines now as the nation's sacred cows would be propelled into the argument immediately ....... One Bradley Dack per annum or 50 nurses?

It's not a bailout as such, it's compo for not being allowed to open your doors to make any income.

Do you think the Guardian and the BBC would see it that way?

btw I switched off Channel 4 news last night in disgust at a 20 minute open attack on Trump by someone called Krishna Guru-Murthy. All he did was wind ignorant black people up and gthen stick a mike under their nose. Just why is Channel 4 so obsessed by an election in another country which we can have no influence over whatsoever?

His old fella was a Doctor in Blackburn btw.

Anyway I'll post a link simply to challenge anyone to get past a few minutes of this crap........... https://www.channel4.com/news/nothing-illegal-about-trumps-2016-campaign-says-republican-strategist

Similar blanket coverage over Trump's appointment of "conservative" Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court panel, Theno, yet judicial appointments to the European Court of Justice and the UK's Supreme Court, that have a much larger effect on viewers' lives go unreported by the MSM.

Back on track: thousands of self-employed business people, like driving instructors an events organisers, have been left to fend for themselves by the government during the pandemic, while many employees are better off than they have been and working fewer hours and continuing to pick up their wages. I spoke to a civil servant the other day who happily informed me that their job is safe and their salary guaranteed because they're in the public sector. I don't see how any funding towards the bloated football industry can be justified in that context.

Tens of thousands who work in the creative industries (theatre, film, music etc) are self employed due to the very nature of the sector. The vast majority have not received a penny from the State. To have football bailed out above them would be unacceptable and another nail in the coffin for Boris.

What has done it for me is the latest round of laws and fines produced without any parliamentary scrutiny; that have a big majority but that does not excuse rule by diktat.

The sooner the Tories realise that Boris is now toxic the better. Maybe they are waiting for the noose to tighten before moving in?

I'm sure most of them do. I couldn't believe it when he got the job tbh. He then won the election primarily because Corbyn was seen as unelectable by the vast majority of voters. So much like the USA wasn't it? If Trump and Clinton were the best they could offer then it's unbelievable .... until you ponder Johnson and Corbyn!
There is no time for the men in grey suits to rest on their laurels or the red wall will turn and for a very long time. Problem is that no successor of gravity and quality appears to be waiting in the wings. The man for the job imo is Rees-Mogg but how would he go down with the floating vote?

Rees-Mogg would lose votes, he comes over as too much of a toff and the swing voters would not take to that. Sunak would be the one to win it for us.

Sadly politics (Tory and Labour) is full of 2nd raters. I have rarely seen such a lack of quality. Most politicians these days are career politicians. They are either Eton types or lefties who have progressed from student union politics and single-issue campaigns. As for local politics why even bother, unless of course you do it for the councillors allowance.

I was going to stand for Lancs County Council next May. It is a Tory ward but the incumbent, who is standing down to run for Crime Commissioner has f**ked it up and lost lots of potential votes due to inaction and basic failings such as non response to emails. I was the one chance of a credible local candidate who could win it for the Tories but they then produced a bizarre selection process that was a stitch up so I have decided to drop out before the selection meeting next week.

They do say 'Politics is a dirty game' don't they? Sounds like nepotism or similar might be at work. I recall living in the Ribble Valley in the 80's when Waddington resigned and they replaced him with a very young Swansea shopkeeper called Nigel Evans. 9th safest Tory seat in the country at that time! Surely we'd get a heavyweight personality not someone who nobody had even heard of? No one wanted him as everybody appeared to want a local chap but Tory central office insisted on him. The ensuing by Election was predictably lost and Lib Dem Michael Carr was elected. Needless to say the Tories stuck with him and 6 months later at the Gen Election the Ribble Valley voters reverted to type and elected him. What had Evans got in his favour? He's had a cushty political career since in a 3rd rate fashion, (only coming out of the closet after an embarrassing scandal and court case as homosexual a decade or so ago) so I can only assume that somebody of real authority, power and influence had promised him the seat in return for certain 'favours' back in the day.
So perhaps you now know what you must do to get the LCC gig eh BB?

Moving on.........

When I was young there used to be politicians of gravitas on all sides. 'Senior statesmen' As I'd refer to them in hindsight. Today there are few to even compare with them from even Cabinet and Shadow cabinet members. Corbyn's Shadow Cabinet being a sick joke on the entire nation imo.
In my perfect world I'd start with not allowing anyone to stand for election to the Commons until they were over 40 and had worked in the private sector and paid income tax for at least 10 years. That would bin off the career mob in an instant.
