I obviously don’t know the circumstances around the employee you’ve described DFC but in my working life , I came across all sorts of employees , almost exclusively white , who tried to take advantage. Employees who put in dubious personal injury claims , employees taking advantage of what was Disability Discrimination Act 1995 ( now consolidated into the Equalities Act 2010 ) when subject to the absence procedure , pregnant women taking their employers to the cleaners for perceived unfair treatment , TU reps pretending they’d been victimised when their performance was reviewed - the list was endless . Difficult for big companies , an absolute nightmare for small ones .
The more rights employees are given , the more employees ( or more accurately their lawyers ) will take advantage. Industrial tribunals ( now employment tribunals ) were established in the 1970s as a quick fix , to sort out problems employees and employers couldn't sort out in the workplace , now they’re playgrounds for solicitors and barristers . It’s quite possible the employee you made redundant has either contacted her Union or a Law Practice who see a bit of a payday for both her and them ( in the case of the law practice)
As far as how we get on with each other , I think the BLM movement and the way the mainstream media covered their protests has set back race relations decades . Society is now more divided than it was in the difficult days of 1970s . I put the blame on the race relations industry activists and the likes of Corbyn , Lammy , Abbott and other lefty MPs who peddle race hate for their own political aims .
The left like nothing better than to create division and decisiveness . Much of the left wing propaganda centred around critical race theory and white privilege has been imported from the US and is now seeping into everyday life via public sector institutions like the NHS , Universities , Schools , Police et al . Big private sector businesses are running scared and jumping onto the same woke bandwagon . As a result all of us , black , brown and white are suffering.
