Lot of wasted money for a skint club there after the first 4 isn't there? No wonder we couldn't do anything in the Jan transfer window. How come the fax machine worked just fine with Mola, Telalovic etc?
Surely that lamentable list is not all down to Broughton is it? Does the manager not have any input into recruitment these days? The evidence is now damning that this club has gone seriously downhill since the stupid / criminal / disastrous (delete as appropriate) decision was made to replace Tony Mowbray for no good reason. I still cannot fathom why there are still wise (mainly but not exclusively young) sages around who insist that Mowbray had 'taken us as far as he could'. A fine example imo of the difference between intelligence and wisdom.
I wonder if the idea of a Broughton type figure was deemed unacceptable by Mowbray and led to his departure? If so he's gone up even more in my estimation.

Bit harsh on Gregg. I don't blame him one bit. If the Goals moved for JDT and the project was abandoned then given he came it at the same time with a new strucutre/remit then the project is likely to have changed for him also.

Broughtons 150K a year wages is more than what we paid for the likes of mola loan fee, Telalovic fee. Let's remind ourselves we've lost 14 million of the wage bill since he came in. He has sold the following under duress;

Kaminski - 2.75m
Phillips - 2m
Wharton - 22m
Ennis - 500k
Raya - Loan Fee 15Pc of 1.5m = 225k

That's 27.5m

We are also about to receive circa 5m for Raya in the summer.

Zero has been reinvested in the squad, cannot keep the model going without re stacking the fridge from time to time.

The fridge is the Academy. We desperately need to maintain that Cat A status as the destination of choice for big club cast offs.

With a number of the big clubs waiting to raid our fridge when they can sign kids with minimum payment to Rovers. The one I am worried about losing that way is Rory Finneran.

Little we can do about it unfortunately. The current rules will allow big clubs to hoover up all available talent with virtually no financial risk or committment to the kids. It cheapens them, makes them more disposable and in many cases will end in the trash can. Look at Phillips, why couldn't he have stayed here to develop instead of being whisked off to London and then farmed out to Plymouth? The current system is an awful licence to treat develop players and smaller clubs with little regard. Money rules everything in football and the welfare and development of youngsters comes a very distant second.

The Wharton business could be the lifeblood for our club and yet the football authorities try to trash it. One Adam should keep the Academy afloat for a few years. Where would we be without his fee? Also as for the Rovers why make a big thing of playing a 15 year old on live TV or putting him on the bench v NUFC? Why not at 15 keep him out of the limelight and away from greedy agents looking to make a quick buck?
