Commenting on todays match is Zainab Abbas. Daughter of famous Pakistani batsman Zaheer Abbas.1668326060430.png

Typical that our lot look like piles of dirty washing isn't it? Is the export of beautiful women banned in Pakistan?

Looking at some of the crowd shots I was thinking the same.
England target 138, currently 49-3 off six. Butler gone though.

Get in!

What a win by England on that made for a draw pitch!

After years of negative captaincy fortune favours the brave.

Stokes should be the King of England.

Imran Khan, Blackburn taxi drivers, ISIS, grooming gangs. Your boys took one hell of a beating.😆

Aussies given the saffers a second touch up despite two injured bowlers.
Got them once more in Sydney, then off to India, then the Ashes.

Look out for a couple of surprises in the Aussie line up in your summer.

I'd say everything about England is pretty surprising under stokes' captaincy ... up to now at least.

I see the duffer from Burnley flicked a bad leg side ball straight into the keeper's hands to give New Zealand a series draw. 🤦‍♂️

He's still in massive credit though Husky. Seems it was a fantastic match and only the second test in history where the winning margin was just 1 run. Andersons bowling figures weren't great for once but maybe Stokes shouldn't have declared and we'd have won. It must have been a massive disappointment for Joe Root who played two magnificent innings worth 248 with the first 153 not out.

10 overs on the first day of a test in India.
Spinners are on and it's 4 for44.
Cricket in India is the biggest joke.
btw Aus is bowling.

Kohli out, now 70 for 6.
When will the ICC act against setting up crap pitches in India.
This is going to be a two day test.

Now 7 for 82.
At this rate the Aussies will be batting before lunch on the first day! Might even be a three session test.

all in all it's just another brick in the wall, dave.

I'd imagine the knock of leather on willow on a Sunday afternoon will now not be accompanied by the clink of glasses but by the gurgle of sheesha pipes.😖

in fairness elcc was doomed. The "locals" saw it as a "white mans" domain and largely chose to boycott it. I must say that did surprise me, crowds that were once 3-400 had dwindled to 30 odd. The club would inevitably have become bankrupt.
There was an offer on the table from qegs (ob) to buy the lot but that fell by the wayside. They have already built a swimming pool in a corner of the Meadows and we're paying rent for school car parking, plus there was an initiative to add extra classrooms at the south end of the ground. I suspect this was a situation / decision which I am sure qegs will come to regret.
Effectively this is being seen by many on the Committee as a positive outcome.... at least in public it is.

Oz 89 for 3 with a target of 281 and a night watchman in making for what might be a a tight nervy finish.

Australia win First test by two wickets after England fail to bowl out the tailenders who came in with 55 to go. Oz had the luck on most of the key moments through this test but England could learn from the Australian 'safety first' methodology.... play not to lose the first test and then win if we can.
england can take heart that given the run of the green they'd have been victorious.

Historic win by the Aussies.
Stokes, despite his desire for entertaining cricket, has to ensure the real reason for playing is to win. In that respect you've got to nail your opponent, His team didn't do that.
It's one thing to score quickly, but that should be done to ensure you take the game away from your opponent. All he did by declaring in the first innings was to give Australia more time to play their normal game. In the end, his bowlers ended up by bowling 64 more overs than the Australians. That's equivalent to two sessions of play. All that was doing was tiring his aging fast bowlers. If he does the same in the next test, he'd better have plenty of test quality backup.
