T20 has become the dominant factor due to its TV mass appeal.

South African launch their T20 Global League in Nov/Dec this year and backed by Cricket SA yet looks Indian Subcontinent in terms of the franchises.

Bravo, Gayle and Pollard are named marquee players from WI. Morgan and KP appear too. All the top SA players including AB.

At the top its becoming a year round game. Too much of a good thing and it will be Test crickets downfall.

Getting very heated between Cricket Australia and the Cricketers Association.
Three days to go and no one seems to want to back down.
Cricket Aus wants to offer no pay/expenses paid to some players on a "A" tour of South Africa just to meet obligations.
If nothing comes of it, expect lots of Aussie cricketers to take up contracts abroad and the test series later to be a shambles.

That's the worst that can happen, expect it all to be resolved on friday night.

In a matter of hours most of Australian Cricketers (male and female) will be unemployed. Cricket Australia is threatening those that take up contract abroad that they won't play again in Aus.

It's said that channel 9 loses about $40 million pa broadcasting cricket in Aus. The players want some of the mega profits that CA gets.

Apparently Cricket Australia owe players some $58 mill which is to be paid in chunks up to Sept I think, but CA want to renegotiate the deal and use some of these funds in a new deal!

Watched Sky's " Cricket Writers on TV" this morning and Simon Wilde from the Sunday Times said he did an interview with Morris & asked him about the Livingstone incident . Morris just said that the South Africans were aware of Livingstone's batting reputation coming into the game and it was just a bit of "chat "

I remember as a youngster making my debut for the firsts in the Lancs League , after a series of good scores in the second team . The opposition bowling pro , a Kiwi , gave me some real abuse ( banter ! ) My mate played for them so the pro knew it was my first game .

Lancs v Yorks T20 a week on Friday is now a 20,000 sell out . I'll be going with the family . Wife is from Leeds so we'll have lots of banter . However I've mixed feelings about the atmosphere at these games . Over the years I've noticed it has become more and more boorish and some spectators just see it as a beer fest . These big T20 games, spectator wise , are becoming more like a football match

I've always assuaged my guilt about going to to the Roses T20 Abbs , by attending at least two days of county cricket - but I did ask for that one and saw it coming

Thanks for the updates DB , please keep them coming . The Aussie situation isn't getting much coverage over here so really appreciated.

Having said that it was discussed briefly on Cricket Writers on TV last Sunday and they , like you, realise it's getting serious. However one of the journos felt that whatever happens, the Ashes are safe, as he believes if the worse comes to the worse , they'll do a special deal just for that series
