My link went down at 2 0, Thankfully. That was total shite with no excuses. Adam Wharton was the only player who should get his pay this week
I never thought I would look forward Dolan and Gallagher returning. We really miss Joe R-C

Gregg needs to start asking questions
But the plan is to just try and churn out some sellable players from the youth set-up. So, as in all but the first season under the Venktards, nobody's head is close to the chopping block. Any league position or death spiral seems fairly irrelevant.

We are basically the next Crewe Alexandra (hopefully without the paedos).

OK, here's a proper review of the players...

Wahlstedt
Terrible mistake for their first goal by letting it go under him. Can't be faulted too much for the other two goals because he was badly exposed by our defence.

Brittain
Worst player on the pitch today. Slipped a few times, one of which hurt on three fronts. 1) It cost us a goal. 2) Sorba Thomas scored it - the man who we brought in and scored no goals in 17 games and was only good for looking a tart when things went against him. 3) It put the game to bed and took the wind out of our sails. He also took a stupid yellow card late on. These will rack up.

Hyam
Didn't really put a foot wrong, but he is a small defender who doesn't win his headers. I'm not sure if anybody has noticed this, yet.

Carter
He's cutting a very frustrated figure of late. Was caught out of position up the pitch when we lost the ball too easily. Bugzorg had a field day against him.

Pickering
I don't recall much that he did to affect the game.

Tronstad
Unfairly hooked at half-time. He did OK to mostly nullify what little Huddersfield offered in attack, and we lost that protection in the second half.

A Wharton
The usual story of some nice control and passes, but losing the ball in dangerous situations on a couple of occasions in the first half. His yellow card was undeserved as it was just a frustrated throw of the arms at the ground, but perhaps he said something to the referee. Showed frustration towards the end with some bizarrely blasted passes and a shot from the wrong place.

Sigurdsson
Non-existent. He seems to go absent from games quite easily when things aren't going our way.

Moran
Poor again. Seems jaded. He's supposed to attack the opposition but hasn't been getting into the right positions or taking players on. Rightly substituted at half-time to try something else.

Szmodics
Not his day. Loose control and not on the same wavelength as his attacking counterparts (or vice versa).

Ennis
Not enough of a presence up front, although is starting to look a bit sharper. Some loose control again.

As for the subs...

Garrett
Got into some decent attacking positions but there were no options around him.

Travis
Didn't protect the defence as well as Tronstad did. Harried the opposition but took a stupid yellow card near the end.

Telalovic
Should have taken a shot instead of passing to Szmodics who was obviously offside. Thought he tried, but got no service.

Markanday
Thought he did well and created half-chances by cutting into the defence. To no avail, however. We were that bad that I'd have to say Man of the Match goes to him because I can't think of a good reason to give it to any of the other rubbish that was on the pitch today.

Hill
An odd player to bring on if you're chasing a consolation goal. Made an absolutely woeful long pass across our box that went for a Huddersfield corner.

Huddersfield were rubbish. Our own mistakes (goalkeeper, slipping, and then going gung-ho with zero incision) caused our downfall. I feel like this one is squarely on Tomasson today. I'm beginning to lose faith in what he's trying to do.

When you have a crap keeper you start looking more closely at all the goals.

Even the 3rd goal now looks like a very savable scuff straight at him that a decent keeper would have stopped.

If anything Huddersfield's home form is even worse than ours. The lads will no doubt have to cope with Darren Moore's pre match message to intimidate and bully us.
From the LT....... Rovers were unable to match Huddersfield's intensity off the ball, losing their individual battles across the pitch. They lacked any cohesion in the final third and ultimately deserved their 3-0 reverse.
:pensive:

I've obviously missed my calling. All the coaches need to do surely is to play reviews of previous capitulations against Plymouth and Rotherham etc.

Or follow the advice given to Nobbers players given by their manager: ‘play aggressive and close to the foul, always get up the backs of the opposition’.

Standard advice which should be given to our lot too. Only Trav and possibly Carter have it.

Only just realised that we play Huddersfield Town at home in just over a few weeks. It would be nice to have a fuller squad by then and get some revenge.

The more I look at that first goal the more amateurish it becomes. I’m not sure what the other club goalies are like but they can’t possibly be any worse. We are setting off every game in the knowledge that he will make a mistake. It doesn’t matter how many great saves you make if every game you make an amateur mistake

We've all been here before with David Raya, a good reflex saver but prone to unforced errors.

Raya was a hundred times better. It was as Mowbray decided his failings where Rayas fault.
I always remember Mowbray doing an interview and saying. David Raya thinks he’ll be a premiership goalkeeper. We’ll see about that.

Whilst Leo was at fault he was not helped by the 2 static Rovers defenders who failed to even try to put in a block. I am still fuming now at that game and the waste of my admission money.

Both Pears and Wahlstedt have shown Jekyll & Hyde traits of goalkeeping. As much as I'm unsure of "projects" in football, the pair of them are definitely "project" type players. They'll get better, and they'll be worth a lot more than what we paid down the line, and perhaps that's the business model at hand. It doesn't make me feel any better about the absolute amateur mistakes they have both made, however.

As for Wahlstedt, didn't he start off as a striker in his younger years? Since he's not great at holding the ball, maybe he's a bit better at holding up the ball.

I’m not going on just yesterday. Watch the palming the ball back against Watford. Yesterday every defender held their head. It was crap

This "project" stuff is total nonsense if you ask me. It became a buzzword about 18 months ago to create a happy delusion for situations like ours, i.e. no money for the level we're at and not gonna be any in the future.

If a player starts excellent he's never at Rovers to begin with. If he starts average and becomes excellent we sell him or he doesn't sign a new contract and leaves on a free. The only long-term players at Rovers are the ones who start half-decent and remain half-decent, or bench/reserves-wise start poor and remain poor.

So there's no project to be had if you ask me. We are what we are and its fan expectation, rather than player quality, that needs to adjust. Whalstedt is our reserve keeper because he's poor, and there's nothing to be done but put up with that until our half-decent first team keeper returns.

Dolan's a typical issue. It's becoming obvious that his agent want's to hawk him around when his contract is over. We rescued that lad's career, we have a model that pick's up failing youngsters and resurrects them in a Cat A Academy. Keeping a Cat A is expensive and we need and must demand a return on investment going forward.

Dolan isn’t good enough to start. Stop giving him a platform. He does not play till he signs or we sell in January. It’s that’s simple
