We should have had a penalty and their second goal was a foul on Kaminski. However they played better overall and the best team on the night won. We carry on.

Best team won. I've said time and again that if you don't play well in this division you'll lose! its galling though when the ref got the two big decisions completely wrong. Any other ref and its 1-1.

I cannot understand why he just didn't slot Johnson in for Travis
Leave Buckley in the forward role and ok, play JRC in like for like replacement for Nyambe (JRC was miles offf the pace - hardly surprising though)

do feel this one is down to TM and some bloody awful decisions by a blind ref and his assistants - yet again!!

Perhaps we should have seen this coming . The game should have been played on Boxing Day , Hull with unpopular owners , in the doldrums and Rovers in superb form . They get it called off in dubious circumstances. The game then takes place just after new owners are announced and Rovers have their midfield general unavailable . The referee, obviously frightened to death of making an unpopular decision makes two absolute shockers and I mean absolute shockers . The first shocker changed the game . A definite penalty and a possible sending off .

To be fair Rovers weren’t at the races but missing Travis and Nyambe . JRC ? Not really my kind of player , lacks physicality , not sure what he offers , but he isn’t a full back on that performance . The midfield missed Travis and we didn’t have a suitable replacement. Not many people’s cup of tea but I’d have liked a Sam Morsy type in there tonight. We made it too easy for Hull

It's unlikely that any of the top teams are going to go without a defeat in the coming weeks but the problem for me was the performance (and the one at Cardiff).
At least, thanks to Sky, we have a couple of days extra to get folk fit and thankfully, we lost to a team near the bottom and not one of our closer rivals.

Just woke up and seen the result and read this page, had a drink in town with my mates before they went to Hull. How they drink from 11 am till god knows what time is beyond me.Just what some fans expect is beyond me,I think refs are vindictive and jealous of Diaz.Nailed on penalty, second goal was a farce and I love to see if the ball was out of play before the goal. Those slagging of TM for selection, have a point Davenport must be leaving. As for Gally come on ,what if the Asian had started bef ore him.

Blackburn Rovers players brand Hull City match postponement a "shambles' | ITV News Granada

Has there ever been an instance where a rearranged match has had a happy ending for us? Sure we had a nervy 0-0 draw against Boro when they baled out of a fixture just before Christmas which ended with their relegation but most of these occasions end in disappointment for the Rovers. Back on Boxing Day Hull were in some disarray whilst we were absolutely flying and the team couldn't wait for the next fixture. Compare with tonight with a brand shiny new owner and a reenergised home crowd, and with a series of injuries robbing the Rovers of both full backs, plus our midfield enforcer and the non stop energy of Thyrys Dolan. Worse still a Referee who deems a nailed on pen a shoulder charge and a blatant assault by McCloughlin on Kaminsky designed and executed to take the keeper right out of the equation as Eaves headed home. God only knows Sheffield Referee Thomas Bramall's thoughts as he views the replays of both incidents and reflects that the Sky cameras highlighted his errors time and again. A quick check reveals that Mr Bramhall is relatively new to the Championship and in his 14 matches so far hasn't pointed to the penalty spot even once!
Disregarding those gut wrenching decisions it has to be said that the Rovers weren't really at the races. Fair play to Hull who ran and chased like their lives depended on it because the Rovers simply did not start to play until the last 15 -20 minutes of the first half by which time they were already one down. The loss of Travis left a major hole in the midfield as Buckley was forced to play a deeper role. He was nowhere near as influential as he is when playing in the false 9 position. Rothwell and Khadra tried to force the issue up top but were let down by BBD and Gallagher who reverted completely to their D&D tag. I'm told the club's stance on BBD is a minimum of 25m to prize him away from Ewood! :joy: Any scouts from Prem clubs who have been assigned the task of scouting BBD after he hit the headlines for scoring his 20th goal of the season before the end of Dec could be forgiven for believing that he has a twin brother who is crap at football and who had turned out tonight for a bet. In truth the best centre forward on display tonight was the muscular 6ft 3" scouser Eaves who terrorised Darragh Lenihan in a way that we witness only on very rare occasions. Eaves ending up with Sky's MoM award and no surprise that imo he was not just the best CF on display tonight but the ONLY one!
In truth tonight was coming! We'd been pretty average since the turn of the year. A 0-0 v Huddersfield followed by a horror show in the FA Cup at Wigan and then a very fortunate 3 points last week at Cardiff. On saturday we didn't get what we deserved but tonight we did! Nowt! Any tbh Hull could have had another 2 or even 3 with steadier finishing.

Just to add my mate txt me at HT to say we played that first half with 9. Gallagher, Buckley and JRC being hopeless. ( I think he meant 8). However they were the three that TM dragged off 15 minutes or so later. Well spotted that man.👍

Kaminsky.... 7 Pulled off a blinder of a save in the second half and was flattened for their second goal.

Rankin Costello...4 Looked rusty and hesitant. Struggled to make simple passes to colleagues on numerous occasions and unless I am mistaken seemed to have an adverse effect on Lenihan's performance.

Lenihan... 6 Given a bit of a tousling the entire 90 mins by the excellent Eaves.

Van Hecke... 6 Did his best but that three CH partnership who have looked so strong over the past 2 months weren't at the races tonight.

Wharton... 6 Record gone. This is the first match that Scott has started that the Rovers have lost. I suppose it had to go sometimes eh?

Edun... 7 Put a decent performance in and possibly the pick of the defenders.

Rothwell... 6 Hull did a number on Joe tonight. His recent influence on matches must have been picked up by Grant McCann and he found his usual way through teams well and truly blocked off.

Buckley... 5 Looks a much better player with Travis growling around just behind him.

Khadra... 7 Came closest to scoring when he rounded GK Baxter only to see some excellent last minute defending block a certain goal. Guilty of poor decision making with his final pass.

BBD..... 5 A blank in 2022 after a goal rush in the second half of 2021. Had a cracking shot saved tonight but he was offside. Should have had a penalty and must be regretting earning the reputation of a diver with Championship referees. Other than that a less than effective display.

Gallagher.... 4 Hopeless performance. He did chase a ball down well to lead a charge on Hull's goal but took the wrong option when he should have passed to Khadra and meekly gave the ball to the nearest defender and in an instant the chance was gone.

Subs
Johnson... (Buckley 68) 5 Didn't bring much to the party.

Ayala.... (JRC 68) 5 Another brought in by TM's exasperation and frustration but didn't influence proceedings at either end.

Markanday... (Gallagher 68) 6 Didn't show much but when he did he looked to be a decent prospect. Fast feet and good balance. Haven't really seen enough to judge properly but if all he has to do is to get in front of Gallagher in the pecking order he should accomplish that with ease.

Tony Mowbray...5 Cut a disappointed figure as his team took so long to get going and even when dominant in the 20 minutes after HT didn't really trouble a rather nervous looking Baxter in the Hull goals. Seemed that McCann spent longer on his homework for this match than Mowbray did.

Referee Thomas Bramall 3 Refereed quite well but got the really big decisions totally wrong. The rovers are a point less this morning because of Mr Bramall.

Thanks for the post-match analysis Theno, always a great read, but a bit unfair singling out the strikers as I said in an earlier post. The mach was lost early in the first half by us giving Hull the impetus. Mowbray should have got Buckley further forward and on the ball more. He should have reverted to four at the back and got a deep central body in midfield to shore up a powder-puff midfield. The way Honeyman was allowed to run in for his goal was pathetic with midfield not doing the basics. It was school playground stuff!

Buckley and the ineffective Rothwell should have been further up the field supporting the strikers who were isolated. At least BB-D tried to make his own luck, whereas Gallagher's head tends to drop. The three substitutions smacked of desperation and were not strategic To be fair to Mowbray he seems to have realised that his tactics were off and his frustration was evident. He was let down by a one or two players last night mind.
