No thanks, totally overrated performer IMO. Not as bad as that Leonard Cohen though, now he is depressing. I was listening to a bit of Gentleman Jim Reeves earlier, what a voice and always reminds me of my grandad who was a fan.

My Mother loved Jim Reeves and Nat King Cole's voices.

As for Dylan he wasn't a great performer at all, but rather a poet / lyricist who reflected the mood of 60's youth brought up in the depths of the Cold war and soon after two world wars .
Many band's re released his hits which were far better musically but not imo with quite the same depth of delivery. Byrds, Roxy Music, Seekers, Stones and even the Beatles. Check this lot out and the number of major bands who played Dylan's music is absolutely unbelievable. You must find something you like in that lot ODB. ;)

Just posted my remembrances of that on another page, haunting indeed. Conjures up the cold Atlantic and sailing to the new world.

That song reminds the wife of her childhood ODB . When I played it she sang along , knows all the words . Believe it or not , Jim Reeves was massively popular in West Indian households in the 1950s and 1960s . Her Mum still has a box set of Gentleman Jim’s vinyl records . This is one of her favourites and played ever Christmas morning

Remember hearing that for the first time in the Vulcan whilst playing table football . Happy Days and great memories. Thanks for posting Dave

So, after living 95% of my life in and around Blackburn, today is a big day.
We completed the sale of our house in Wilpshire and have moved up to what was our holiday home in southwest Scotland.
Planning granted for a small extension and a life of rural peace and quiet awaits 😯
The recent covid crisis made me realise that we need to concentrate on quality of whatever years we have remaining.
Sold the business and retiring at the end of June to concentrate on country walks, golf and brewing ale (oh, and some football team).
I will still be visiting a LOT of the time to play golf with friends (so, OOT, I will still be ducking your shots to the 18th green 😉)
And, of course, Ewood Park will never be far from my mind or my visits.
I'm not changing my pseudonym on here or any of my involvement with the site, I'm just going somewhere more remote from the craziness while I still have chance.

Not sure why this message hit my email, but glad it did.

Wilpshire Blue I salute you, you lucky swine and wish you the best of luck.
I've lived away from Blackburn for a number of years and absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder, I love going back.
