I recall first time I heard this was driving down the M6 on a summers evening. I'd never heard it before and I'd never even heard of Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler but it blew me away immediately when normally I've to hear stuff a few times before I decided I liked it.

Knopfler is a great guitarist.
Sultans of Swing a great track.
Good Jazz influence in it as well.
You saying of recall of the first hearing reminds me of my first hearing of McArthur Park by Richard Harris? Took my breath away.

I've got a cd of Seasick Steve.
Was watching a repeat of a show last week and Steve turned up there, giving the last song.
Always sounds if he has broken a string and just carries on.
Very underrated imo
