Steve Moss. I'll adopt the above as a character bio.
Great to see you on here Steve. I'm Al by the way. This site demands a user name more than two letters so I have to change my name after 17 years. I look forward to reading your posts.
Don't stop putting them straight on the BRFCS Brexit thread though. I'm on a self imposed posting ban.

Long term reader / occasional poster on t'other place. All the most interesting names and faces seem to have moved here, so gonna lurk over here for a bit too. Seems to be the more entertaining and relaxed place it used to be over there. Nice to see people like Maj are still alive too!

Nice to have you on board Reidy (and anyone else that I've missed). I doubt I'll have to impress this on Steve Moss but in order for someone to read someone else has to post.:)

Just as a general comment I'm chuffed to bits not only at the number of members that we have attracted in a short time (and with a struggling club as the focal point) but also at the quality of those names! Welcome to all.

It is good to see you again too Reidy, welcome to the mb!

I stopped posting out of curiosity, not because of any ban. With some it seemed I could declare the sky was blue and they'd argue about it. So I was curious what they'd get up to if I just sat back and observed. I've come to the following conclusions: 1) they're turning some of those threads into an echo chamber as they ban and/or drive off those who might disagree with them; 2) their constant reinforcement of each other's beliefs (Trump is Hitler and/or incompetent) is causing them to spiral ever downward into delusion; and, 3) given enough time, the party eats its own.

I'll retake the field eventually. But I'm helping to run a soccer tournament this weekend and taking a break gave me more time to prepare. 123 teams, ranging from U10-U19. :)

Evening Steve, where is the tournament you're helping to run? Sounds like hard work...

Bullhead City, Arizona. 123 teams playing Saturday and Sunday, 3-4 games each. It's called the River Daze (as it is adjacent to and in view of the Colorado River and a bit hot). It's our 6th official year, 10th unofficial (a friend and I started it with 4 local kid teams 10 years ago; it's been growing every year). All the referees are volunteers. The proceeds go to park improvements (we have 40 acres under lights but have another 20 acres that need field lights).

Simultaneously at the same park, the Rotary Club runs the Burro BBQ (it's 67th year), the River Cruizers do a free classic car show, the Habitat for Humanity does a construction project to raise money for it's next home project, and there is a water slide and amusement area for the younger kids. There are 11 casinos across the river in Laughlin and shows which run every evening (Billy Bob Thornton's band is playing this weekend, in addition to the Voodoo Cowboys, a variety of cover bands, some comedy and burlesque shows). It makes for an attractive venue for parents who want to let their kids play during the day but want to socialize at night.

I think it will only grow bigger as the years go on (we had about 90 teams last year).

Sounds superb, been all round that area and my God its hot!

Got done for speeding in Seligman, the police are always looking for unsuspecting tourists rushing towards the bright lights of Vegas!

Enjoy and lets hope we have a Rovers win.

Did you pay the fine Gav or do a runner?

Anyway Steve how about recreating that Burning Man carry on down in Arizona? That might suit the parents better and make a good few bob for the kitty too!;)

Paid the fine when I got back home, they're apparently hot at customs on unpaid fines so didn't want the uncertainty on the next trip.

Hey up, bloody hell. This is where you all are! Only tend to lurk on the other site these days with the odd post now and then. Thought it had gone a bit stale and only found out about this site yesterday! Well done on setting this up, let's hope the numbers grow and some good banter can be had.
