Elliott Jackson suggests Buckley wanted to go to get playing minutes - something I suspect Tomasson couldn't guarantee him this season. Obviously it's not really happened for him at Wednesday, so I think we would have recalled him regardless of the injury.
If there is one thing I think Tomasson has been, it's ruthless and honest with his players. They may not like it, but it's better than telling them what they want to hear. While I rate Travis, I get the distinct impression that he is somewhat of a strong personality in the dressing room that can easily clash with a manager. I seem to recall a fall-out he had with Mowbray several seasons ago. Whether true or not, I don't know, but it was a popular rumour at the time. It doesn't surprise me that there are rumours of a long-running fall-out between Travis and Tomasson.
It's also worth noting that Scott Wharton doesn't appear to have been a favourite of Tomasson's during his overall time at the club. He's been left out when fully fit on plenty of occasions.
Tomasson, for whatever faults he has, at least seems to be honest with his players - whether they like it or not. It will certainly ruffle the feathers of a few who think they should be in the first team and aren't. Team is number one, remember!
