Elliott Jackson reporting that Buckley has been fully recalled by Rovers. Undergoing two months' rehabilitation. Probably touch and go as to whether he'll feature for us before the season is out.
Surely it would have been better recalling him at month end and letting Wednesday pay his wages?

Perhaps the deal was just until 31/12/23 with a yes or no decision to be made then? James Hill's deal ends 2nd week of Jan and he's off to Bournemouth to finish the season.

He did not want to go.
Elliott Jackson suggests Buckley wanted to go to get playing minutes - something I suspect Tomasson couldn't guarantee him this season. Obviously it's not really happened for him at Wednesday, so I think we would have recalled him regardless of the injury.

If there is one thing I think Tomasson has been, it's ruthless and honest with his players. They may not like it, but it's better than telling them what they want to hear. While I rate Travis, I get the distinct impression that he is somewhat of a strong personality in the dressing room that can easily clash with a manager. I seem to recall a fall-out he had with Mowbray several seasons ago. Whether true or not, I don't know, but it was a popular rumour at the time. It doesn't surprise me that there are rumours of a long-running fall-out between Travis and Tomasson.

It's also worth noting that Scott Wharton doesn't appear to have been a favourite of Tomasson's during his overall time at the club. He's been left out when fully fit on plenty of occasions.

Tomasson, for whatever faults he has, at least seems to be honest with his players - whether they like it or not. It will certainly ruffle the feathers of a few who think they should be in the first team and aren't. Team is number one, remember!

A Captain needs to be a strong personality. He should always have any serious disagreements with the Manager in private though. Hard but fair is all that any players hould want from a manager whilst the key word is not like or dislike between Managers and players it's 'RESPECT'. That works both ways

I hope Buckley has got his head/attitude sorted now after his brief sojourn elsewhere.

I tend to give a medical report coming out of Ewood as much credence as one of Aesop's Fables.
